About this product
Fairport Convention are an English folk rock band, formed in 1967 by guitarists Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol, bassist Ashley Hutchings and drummer Shaun Frater (with Frater replaced by Martin Lamble after their first gig.) Vocalists Judy Dyble and Iain Matthews joined them before the recording of their self-titled debut in 1968; afterwards, Dyble was replaced by Sandy Denny, with Matthews later leaving during the recording of their third album. Denny began steering the group towards traditional British music for their next two albums, What We Did on Our Holidays and Unhalfbricking (both 1969); the latter featured fiddler Dave Swarbrick. For Liege & Lief Swarbrick joined full time alongside drummer Dave Mattacks. Both Denny and Hutchings left before the year's end; the latter replaced by Dave Pegg, who has remained the group's sole consistent member to this day. This album is from their 1974 tour of the USA recorded live in Denver.

Renaissance are an English progressive rock band, best known for their 1978 UK top 10 hit InchNorthern LightsInch and progressive rock classics like InchCarpet of the SunInch, InchMother RussiaInch, and InchAshes Are BurningInch. They developed a unique sound, combining a female lead vocal with a fusion of classical, folk, rock, and jazz influences. Characteristic elements of the Renaissance sound are Annie Haslam's wide vocal range, prominent piano accompaniment, orchestral arrangements, vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synthesiser, and versatile drum work. The band created a significant following in the northeast United States in the 1970s, and that region remains their strongest fan base. Renaissance was born, and the band released a studio album in 1969, and another in 1971. Subsequently, John Tout replaced Hawken on keyboards, followed by a period of high turnover of musicians until the Inchclassic line-upInch of Annie Haslam, John Tout, Michael Dunford, Jon Camp, and Terry Sullivan arrived.

One of the better British progressive bands of the early '70s, The Strawbs differed from most groups principally in that their sound originated in English folk music, rather than rock. They are best known for their hit InchPart of the UnionInch, which reached number two in the UK Singles Chart in February 1973, as well as for InchLay DownInch, a popular progressive rock hit from the same LP. Strawbs toured with Supertramp in their InchCrime of the CenturyInch tour, doing their own InchHero and HeroineInch tour, which drew musical similarities and themes. In a review in Rolling Stone in 1974, Ken Barnes wrote InchStrawbs moved from folkier days to a rich, stately and mellotron-dominated sound, with similarities to Yes, King Crimson and the Moody Blues. They wrote more compelling songs than the former two, and possessed more lyrical/musical substance than the latter.Inch
