Falling - BLU-RAY

Gay airline pilot John Peterson (Viggo Mortensen, who wrote and directed) had a lifelong cross to bear in the form of his irascible farmer father Willis (Lance Henriksen), who bore undisguised contempt for his son's lifestyle. With Willis becoming increasingly burdened by dementia, John brought him home for a visit, to hopefully convince him to move nearer to his kids-a task that the bitter old man won't make easy. Moving tale co-featuring Terry Chen, Laura Linney, Hannah Gross, David Cronenberg. 112 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Region Free

Falling Down [Blu-ray]

The lives of four girls (Hanna Heckt, Lea Drinda, Lena Urzendowsky, Laeni Geiseler) whose families occupied an isolated Anhalt farmhouse from the 1910s to the present day-and how their traumas and transitions would mirror and echo one another's, irrespective of the era-are tellingly explored in writer-director Mascha Schilinski's nonlinear, epic-length study. Susanne Wuest, Luise Heyer, Martin Rother, Florian Geisselmann, Ninel Geiger also star. 154 min. Standard; Soundtrack German; Subtitles English. In German with English subtitles.
