About this product
At long last, we have the new album from the Minneapolis black metal project, False. After an Untitled EP in 2011, and a split LP with Barghest in 2012, they now return with their first proper full-length album, once again an untitled . Throughout the sixty-minute run time of the album, False dive deeper into the realm of visceral and relentless black metal for which they've become well-known. Their live sound and ferocity is finally captured here, revealing a whole new depth and darkness that has only been hinted at on previous recordings. This album is far from a simple exercise in listening, and more akin to a journey to be experienced. The works contained therein are incredibly bleak and emotionally powerful, with a long lasting impact. This Untitled album was recorded live, mixed, and mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording, with artwork by Nicole Sara Simpkins. It will be presented as an gatefold CD and gatefold 2LP, each pressed in a quantity of 1000 and each housed in a thick, old-style tip-on jacket, printed by Stoughton Printing. Vinyl includes a digital download code.

Basic - the trio of Chris Forysth (guitar), Mikel Patrick Avery (percussion, drum machine, electronics), and Douglas McCombs (Fender Bass VI) - produced their new 7-track album over two days at Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, finishing overdubs and mixing with Jeff Zeigler in Philadelphia. The recordings are groove-driven, but light and loose with songs sounding much bigger than a trio. Ample detail is provided by the interlocking guitars and Avery's unique combination of electronic beats and acoustic percussion that he treats and manipulates live with various self-built electronic processors.Shortly after the of their debut (This Is Basic, 2024) bassist McCombs (Tortoise, Brokeback) joined the group, and along with Philly-based core members Forsyth (Solar Motel Band) and Avery, (Natural Information Society), toured the record up and down the West Coast and throughout the Northeast and Midwest US making stops at taste making festivals like Sound & Gravity and Big Ears. The chemistry between the three resulted in the development of new material almost immediately, and the InchDream CityInch EP was released in the spring of 2025. Album Tracks 1. Premonition 2. Brutalist with Filigree 3. Loose Canon 4. Pulse 5. Index of Memories 6. It Ignites 7. Union Pool Melody
