About This Item

Three CD set. Complete anthology of Noel Redding's post-Jimi Hendrix Experience band. Comprises their three albums (one unreleased at the time), non-album single tracks, out- takes, radio and TV sessions as well as the first-ever reissue of the alternative US-only mix of their debut LP. Primarily a songwriting vehicle for former Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist Noel Redding, Fat Mattress were launched in a blaze of publicity in the summer of 1969. With Redding (now reverting to his preferred instrument of guitar) joined by former Flower Pot Men singer Neil Landon and ex-Engelbert Humperdinck touring band members Jim Leverton and Eric Dillon, Fat Mattress recorded a fine debut album (actually cut in December 1968) that charted in America. Unfortunately, Redding quit the band midway through a volatile US tour, the rump of the band going on to a second album without him before he returned to the line-up for a third Fat Mattress LP. But a disagreement with manager Chas Chandler meant that the third album failed to gain a at the time, and Fat Mattress split again, this time permanently. The final word on a talented but star-crossed band, How Can I Live? assembles everything that they recorded during their brief existence, including BBC radio and German TV sessions as well as the first-ever reissue in any of the American mix of that impressive debut album. Album Tracks 1. All Night Drinker 2. I Don't Mind 3. Bright New Way 4. Petrol Pump Assistant 5. Mr. Moonshine 6. Magic Forest 7. She Came in the Morning 8. Everything's Blue 9. Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
