Perfect balance between 35mm and 50mm. You can compose wide photos for street photography kinda close to what you could do with a 35mm lens and allso use it as a portrait lens like a 50mm. Paired it with my A7Cii, which is the best everyday carry camera. The lens is sharp, very versatile and very lightweight considering it has a focus ring, aperture ring which you could turn on and off the click mechanism, autofocus and manual focus switch and a custom button. It packs a lot of feature in a very small package and great value for the price.

This is definitely an excellent lens from Sony! I use this lens with my Sony A7Riii and the picture details are amazing. I also use this lens with Sony's Clearimage function where this prime lens turns into a zoom lens without losing any sharpness or picture detail. Amazing all around lens!

This prime lens is my absoluate go-to and always docked onto my Sony Alpha A7IV. The kitty cam has never looked as crisp. I bought this as opened box 8 months ago and would rate it just the same if bought full retail.

Great small light lens for a full frame. Definitely great for street photography but even with portraits it’s tack sharp and produces great colors. Great auto focus. I keep this one in my bag all of the time.

A fantastic lens, especially for the the A7C series of cameras from Sony. The lens is fast and sharp. My only complaint is that I wish Sony would make even more compact version of this and in 35mm.

If you’re looking for a small compact lens that you can travel around easily with - this is my go to. The 40 gives a slightly more unique look than a 50. Paired with the a7cii, it’s my perfect street camera to walk out of the house with. Great if you just want to have something on you just in case but photography is not your focus for the day. It’s so light you don’t even feel that it’s on you.

This is a sharp little lens, with a quick autofocus. The lens seems to be good and sharp all the way across the frame. The build quality is very good, but the price does seem a bit high when compared to similar lenses from other manufacturers. The lens, when paired with the A7C, makes a very small kit for full frame street photgraphy. Overall, I can easily recommend this lens.

Did some landscape photography and did some video work with this nice little lens. Great for gimbal work. This lens is fast accurate focusing, clear images. 40 mm on the Sony a7r3. 40 mm then in super 35 mode around 60mm. Wasn’t sure how that would pan out. This lens is fantastic! Picked it up on sale. Well worth it.

[Employee of bestbuy] Been loving this lens as a companion to my a7CR it’s super sharp light weight but above all else FUN! Having the manual aperture is really fun to use It’s one of the many reasons I love my film camera and this gives me a similar feeling when shooting it’s expensive tho especially for a f2.5

This lens is crazy good. Fast, smooth, and quiet. Great for everyday photography indoors and out, plus tight places. I use this lens with A7R5 and the resolution is crazy good. I can blow up my pictures and see all kinds of detail. Im a former canon shooter and have not regretted or looked back. Great for walk around and run n gun shooting. Recommend to all, go buy it. BUY IT!!

This lens is fantastic so I wouldn’t want to give it anything but 5 starts. Bestbuy gets 1 star for having the lens get delivered to the incorrect address and not helping in way to correct the issue. Thankfully almost 4 weeks after my delivery date, a neighbor ended up returning the lens lol Definitely not buying any more expensive items from Best Buy.
