About this product
Conjunto music is the sound of South Texas, and nobody plays it better or with more spirit than Felipe Perez. On this recording you are hearing Conjunto music played in a perfectly realized style. 'Dulce Sueños' features seven original songs and tunes by Perez as well as traditional and classic Conjunto songs and instrumentals in Felipe's distinctive style and arrangements. The album begins with Perez's new InchCoronavirus PolkaInch. This is música alegre played for dancing, drinking, and having a good time. The rhythms you hear at any Conjunto dance usually run the gamut from polkas to polkas to more polkas. But old school players like Felipe also play all the rhythms common in the borderlands for the past century and still revered by dancers there. The floor is never empty when Felipe plays.

When Felipe Perez plays his accordion, everyone notices that he looks every bit as happy as his music sounds. Full of life, Felipe plays la musica alegre with speed and a tireless verve. It's no wonder. Felipe has been playing professionally since 1950 and he shows no signs of slowing. Perez has carried on the tunes and style of his mentor, Juan Lopez, a master of Corpus Christi style Conjunto accordion. Texas en Polka highlights Felipe's skill not only as a masterful player but as a composer of excellent, traditional style accordion pieces. Felipe's playing is supported by veteran Conjunto musicians, Virginio Castillo (bajo sexto) and Ramon Gutierrez (tololoche). Texas en Polka is old-school Conjuno music at it's very best!
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 . Pulse is the second full-length album from Stockholm-based electronic artist Roya. It is in many ways a continuation of the same approach taken in Hive, the award-winning debut album rhythmic song structures paired with atmospheric background tones and dreamlike female vocals.
