A rising star on the Philly Soul scene, vocalist Marki Fields has been making a name for herself since her discovery by producer and Society Hill Records head Butch Ingram, who has put Marki's unique talent to work in the studio on several Society Hill releases. Fields garnered rave reviews for her duet with Society Hill tag mate Donnie Tatem on their updating of Maxwell's smash hit InchAscension (Don't Ever Wonder)Inch and for her beautiful rendition of Stevie Wonder's 1984 chart-topper InchOverjoyed.Inch Marki was picked as one of the featured vocalists at a recent Phyllis Hyman tribute and she has made appearances in the Northeast, wowing audiences with her authentic soul sound. Ingram decided it was time that Marki exposed her talents to a wider audience and invited her into the studio to record her long overdue full-length album debut, appropriately titled InchCaught Up.Inch Enlisting the help of the Society Hill Orchestra and the Ingram Brothers band, Fields does justice to the Philly Soul sound with an awesome collection of songs, hand-picked by herself and Ingram. For the first single from the album, which also happens to be the lead track, Marki revisits Anita Baker's 1986 gem InchCaught Up In The RaptureInch and delivers a poignant, compelling take on the time honored chestnut, making it even more relevant for a modern audience.

This is purported to be the last Pale Lights , as Phil Sutton has told me that he's retiring the name now that he's more active with his Love, Burns project. Although three of these songs have been previously released (including their recent Slumberland singles club 7Inch and an obscure compilation track, which weren't included on the recent InchWaverly PlaceInch collection), the other five tracks are all brand new, and not-surprisingly fit perfectly in the band's oeuvre of crystalline jangly pop that goes well alongside Weather Prophets, Felt & the Go-Betweens. You may be tempted to mourn their passing, but please remember that Love, Burns are just as adept at the same style of shimmering strummy guitars and warm organs, so please keep up!
