About This Item

Analogue Productions (Atlantic Series) Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Atlantic Records! Foreigner's debut spawned massive FM hits 'Feels Like the First Time,' and 'Cold as Ice' Hybrid Stereo SACD Mastered directly from the original master tape by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound Arena rock heroes Foreigner crushed with their 1977 self-titled album debut, spawning some of the biggest FM hits of that year, including the anthemic 'Feels Like the First Time' and 'Cold as Ice,' both of which were anchored - like most of Foreigner's songs - by the muscular but traditional riffing of guitarist Mick Jones, the soaring vocals of Lou Gramm, and the state-of-the-art rock production values of the day, which AllMusic reviewer Andy Hinds says allowed the band to sound hard but polished. The architect behind Foreigner's extraordinary catalog, Mick Jones has crafted some of rock music's most enduring songs. Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter, performer and producer and winner of the prestigious Ivor Novello songwriter award in 1998, Jones first began playing guitar in his early teens. After starting his own rock band and opening for the Rolling Stones in pubs across South London, Mick's first big break came in 1964 when he moved to Paris and was hired to play with French singer Sylvie Vartan. After a brief stint in England to reform the band Spooky Tooth, Jones moved to New York City and formed Foreigner with Ian McDonald and Dennis Elliott and Americans Lou Gram, Alan Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi. Foreigner defined a generation of rock music to people across the globe. From it's iconic debut album, the band moved on to record-breaking hits including 'I Want To Know What Love Is, Waiting for a Girl Like You, Double Vision, Hot Blooded, Juke Box Hero' and many more. Billy Joel - The Stranger - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

'Joel's Breakthrough Record Loaded With Smash Hits 'Movin' Out (Anthony's Song), Just the Way You Are, Only the Good Die Young, She's Always a Woman'. Billy Joel entered 1977 with a great track record but in need of a breakthrough. Pairing with producer Phil Ramone (Carly Simon, Simon & Garfunkel), who developed the requisite ingredients missing from Joel's formula, the singer-songwriter became a household name and chart-topping success courtesy of The Stranger. Ranked 67 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and certified ten-times platinum, Joel's artistic and commercial smash remains a pop-rock benchmark. Better still, it now sounds astonishing. An integral part of Mobile Fidelity's Billy Joel catalog restoration series, The Stranger is mastered from the original master tapes and made available on transparent hybrid SACD. Far superior to previous reissues, this edition emphasizes the crucial touches and insightful techniques Ramone brought to a batch of material that ranks among Joel's most clever, catchy, and sagacious. Whereas a handful of Joel's preceding efforts feature a near-flawless mix of melodic arrangements and poignant lyrics, the aspects he sought in order to graduate into a more serious artist arrive here via Ramone's more muscular, fleshed-out, and rock-enabling production. The streamlined approach slightly strips back the sweeping developments heard on Piano Man and Turnstiles, and on this edition, lays bare the core of the material, allowing the vocalist's bittersweet yearning, rollicking 88 notes, and working-class conviction to emanate with full-bodied detail, vivid color, and grand-scale dynamics. A Grammy winner for both Record and Song of the Year, 'Just the Way You Are' epitomizes Joel's balladic reach, his ability to transfer wistful sentiments and lovelorn emotions. He also flashes a mean streak. The animated 'Only

Playing with superb clarity, definition, and purity, this collectible reissue magnifies the brilliance of the extended production sessions that took place over the course of 18 months at Columbia's iconic 52nd Street Studio.Simon himself said that Bookends possesses 'the most use of the studio' of any Simon & Garfunkel effort. The plain truth of his observation comes to fore on this audiophile SACD. The full bloom and natural decay of notes; weight and impact of low-end frequencies; lushness, breathiness, and air of the omnipresent harmonies; separation and imaging of the wood, string, and brass instruments; timbres and in-the-room realism of Simon's lead vocals - these critical traits and more are rendered with elevated accuracy, detail, and presence. And that's exactly what Simon, Garfunkel, and producer Roy Halee intended while tak
