About this product
In the music of Forndom, the past breathes with a vitality that transcends time. InchMoþirInch is as complex as the deities it portrays, weaving together themes of fertility and loyalty, love and betrayal, light and shadow. It is an exploration of divine ambiguity, where the nurturing embrace of a mother can just as easily turn into the cold hand of inevitability. Here, Ludvig Swärd strips away the modern trappings of synthesisers, embracing a purely acoustic sound. The music feels as though it has been carved from the very earth, born from instruments fashioned by hand and played with reverence for the ancient. Recorded and mixed by Swärd himself, InchMoþirInch features the talents of Thomas von Wachenfeldt (Bards of Skaði), whose violin conjures both light and darkness; Janne Posti (Häxkapell, Sons of Crom), whose choral tones add a numinous depth; and Draugurinn, whose haunting presence lingers like a spirit from a forgotten age. Forndom's latest offering is a meditation on the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, seen through the lens of ancient Scandinavian spirituality. Ludvig Swärd continues to stand at the crossroads of the past and present, offering a glimpse into the heart of ancient wisdom through the eyes of a modern seeker. Mastered at NBS Studio by Tore Stjerna. Design by Thomas Väänänen. Illustrations by Sol Rydius. With their seventh full-length entitled InchNarkissosInch, Fortid have finally delivered a masterpiece that should easily make it into the top part of those end of the year lists. The Icelandic trio has not even changed much, they are just doing everything even better than before. Fortid forge melodic riffing from black, death, thrash, and heavy metal threads into one sharp weapon. The Icelanders don't care about any particular genre, but focus entirely on writing excellent songs. As a result InchNarkissosInch features nine catchy and fiery metal anthems. Fortid determined the musical coordinates of their long journey with the ambitious InchVöluspáInch album trilogy, which was released from 2003 to 2010. Their early combination of harsh black and death metal riffing with a pinch of thrash and a penchant for epic melodies, versatile vocals as well as a heavy dose of InchIcelandic soundInch was continuously refined on the acclaimed InchPagan PropheciesInch (2012) full-length and the following Inch9Inch (2015) album. With the dark and deadly InchWorld SerpentInch (2020), Fortid charted the current course that led via the two-track EP InchDomur um daudan hvernInch (2022) straight to InchNarkissosInch. Lyrically, Fortid remain on an Old Norse and pagan course. Gudmundsson has woven a yarn in a Nordic context about a character with the so-called narcissistic personality disorder that runs as a red thread through InchNarkissosInch. Fortid present a contemporary metal album that is both musically and lyrically taking the Icelanders to a new peak, and by firmly placing substance over style will find it's audience. Album Tracks 1. Narkissos 2. Drottnari 3. Vefurinn Sem Eg Spinn 4. Uppskera 5. Thusund Thjaninga Smidur 6. Rotinn Arfur 7. Illt Skal Med Illu Gjalda 8. Ti-Mans or 9. Vid Daudans Dyr

British epic doom metallers Godthrymm (featuring members once involved in such luminaries as My Dying Bride, Anathema, Vallenfyre, and Solstice) return with their new album, Distortions. The follow-up to 2020's widely-lauded Reflections shows the Halifax-based quartet of Hamish Glencross (guitars / vocals), Catherine Glencross (keyboards / vocals), InchSasquatchInch Bob Crolla (bass), and Shaun InchWinterInch Taylor-Steels (drums) elegantly expanding upon their sound and vision. With tracks like InchFollow Me,Inch featuring former My Dying Bride compatriot Aaron Stainthorpe, InchEchoes,Inch and InchDevils,Inch Distortions advances Godthrymm into the hallowed halls of the genre they adore to death.InchI absolutely wanted to create a much more layered and complex arrangement in the sound,Inch says Godthrymm's Hamish Glencross. InchTotally amping up the contrasts to the extreme-the light shines brighter, and the darker depths are vast trenches. There is a lot more harmony and melancholy for much of it, but also some slab-heavy riffing, too. We wanted a total progression in the production and more class and clarity in the sound, as opposed to Reflections, which could get quite dense in tone.InchDistortions is the second part of Glencross' Visions trilogy-the third part, Projections, is already in the works. Throughout it's seven-track, hour-long expanse, Godthrymm's sophomore effort delves deeper into the despondent march of post-pandemic singles InchChasmInch and InchIn Perpetuum,Inch the latter released exclusively on Decibel Magazine's Decibel Flexi Series in 2022. Glencross' emotionally-charged vocals pair perfectly with his towering riffs and thoughtful, crestfallen harmonies. The rhythmic foundation of Crolla and Taylor-Steels is absolutely critical to Glencross' woebegone éclat. With Catherine Glencross' angelic vocals and atmospheric keyboards stitched into the mo
