Discover the world's earliest music by a female composer 9th-century nun, poet, and hymnographer Kassianí (Kassía). The same men and women of Cappella Romana who brought you the InchLost Voices of Hagia SophiaInch bestseller (43 weeks on Billboard), now sing the earliest music we have by a female composer, including long-suppressed hymns recorded here for the first time. They close with two medieval versions of her beloved hymn for Orthodox Holy Week. Cappella Romana is the world's leading ensemble in the field of medieval Byzantine chant. Building on it's extensive catalogue of this repertoire, Hymns of Kassianí is it's 25th . This is the first of a planned series to record all of Kassianí's surviving works.

Telephone Explosion records is proud to be releasing the mesmerizing debut LP by Nova Scotia's Quilting on October 7, 2022.The album is a quietly stunning collection of pastoral ambience dotted with moments of tension that reflects the maritime environment in which it was created, inadvertently paying homage to the light and darkness of rural life.Co-founded by Holy F**k's Brian Borcherdt, the quartet is comprised of a diverse and accomplished collection of musicians who came together when he moved back to his home province in 2019 after a lengthy stay in Toronto. While providing a necessary distraction from early-COVID life, Quilting also offered a chance to improvise within a uniquely ambient soundspace. The LP features five songs all recorded live off-the-floor in a single live performance. Moods range from reflective to unsettled, and even at it's loudest parts a sense of intimacy persists.01. Streaming02. Tambora Sisters03. Maisie MacLeod04. Crescent Moon
