Fortid - Narkissos - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

With their two-track EP InchDomur um daudan hvernInch (InchJudgement of Everyone DeadInch), Fortid send out an impressive sign of life. The Icelandic pagan black metal outfit continues in the massive footprints that their current album InchWorld SerpentInch has left. Epic Icelandic melodies, sharp riffing that draws from black, death, thrash, and heavy metal as well as Einar Eldur Thorberg's distinct vocals combine into fiery and spirited new songs. Instead of twiddling thumbs while stuck at home, Fortid decided to hone their weapons by writing new material and to weather out the global storm season in their rehearsal room and later in the studio to make the best out of the situation. The first new songs on InchDomur um daudan hvernInch demonstrate that InchWorld SerpentInch was not an accidental success, but that this album represents a new height, which the Icelanders, with many years of experience under their belts and still burning with passion, have securely reached and hold on to. With Einar firmly at the helm, the Icelanders are still following the course that he set on the InchVoluspaInch-trilogy of albums from 2003 to 2010. Their combination of harsh black and death metal riffing with a pinch of thrash and a penchant for epic melodies, versatile vocals as well as a heavy dose of InchIcelandic soundInch was maintained on the acclaimed InchPagan PropheciesInch (2012) full-length and the following Inch9Inch (2015) album as well, which finally led to the dark and deadly InchWorld SerpentInch being unleashed onto the pagan metal world. Far from being satisfied with their latest achievements, Fortid are preparing for their next attack. InchDomur um daudan hvernInch is a strong omen for those ravens of the north to embark on another metal journey filled with heavy glory, riffs of ice, and steel-strings!

FORTIÐ the InchWorld SerpentInch! With this dark and deadly duology, mastermind Einar Eldur Thorberg delivers an album of two parts The first five tracks were recorded with the former Norwegian line-up. The other songs are a creation of the multi-instrumentalist after changing his residence back to Iceland and enlisting the support of drummer Kristján Einar Guðmundsson (KONTINUUM) with whom he had previously collaborated in the native cult act POTENTIAM. InchWorld SerpentInch is loosely based on a unifying apocalyptic theme, but also a beast of two faces. The first half witnesses FORTIÐ subtly experimenting with influences of Bay Area Thrash, while the second half returns to a more black metal approach with screams and clean vocals. Although both parts have diverging musical visions and even different line-ups, they complement each other rather than constitute two separate entities. Despite some subtle experimentation and drastic line-up changes, FORTIÐ are still following the course that Einar Eldur set on the InchVöluspáInch-trilogy of albums from 2003 to 2010 as well as the acclaimed InchPagan PropheciesInch (2012) and Inch9Inch (2015) full-lengths harsh black and death metal riffing with a penchant for epic melodies combined with versatile vocals and a dose of InchIcelandic soundInch. With InchWorld SerpentInch, FORTIÐ have unleashed a dark and deadly creature onto the pagan metal world! InchWorld SerpentInch is available as Digipak CD and on Gatefold 2LP vinyl (black, ltd. Transparent Curacao blue).
