Frankenstein's Army - DVD

In the dying days of World War II, a battalion of Russian soldiers find themselves lost in enemy territory. Stumbling upon a village decimated by an unseen terror, they're lured into the secret lab of a deranged scientist (Hellboy's Karel Roden) and forced to face off against his army of horrific flesh-and-metal war machines. Leaderless and faced with dissention amongst their dwindling ranks, the Russians must find the courage to face down this terrifying new menace - or die trying. A nightmarish fantasy thrill ride unlike any other, Richard Raaphorst's FRANKENSTEIN'S ARMY is a delirious plunge into the darkest depths of insanity.

Baron Frankenstein is dead. Or at least, that's what he wants the public to believe. To carry on his work, he holes up in a place where the possibilities are utterly maddening: a home for the criminally insane. A hand here. A brain there. True to form, the Baron (Peter Cushing) keeps his gruesome creation (David Prowse - widely known for his later portrayals of Darth Vader) in stitches in this sixth and final fright-fest in Hammer Films

This much-requested made-for-TV adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel stars Michael Sarrazin as the creature given life by Victor Frankenstein (Leonard Whiting), who witnesses his creation turn uncontrollable after he's duped by his associate, Dr. Polidori (James Mason). David McCallum, Jane Seymour, Ralph Richardson, John Gielgud, and Tom Baker also star. 183 min. Standard; Soundtrack English; Subtitles English.
