Freedom Fighters - My Scientist Friends - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Northern Songs is the band's tenth full length record, following up the Collide LP in 2018. Here, the 12-string folk-rock jangle of the mid-60's Byrds is overlaid with the washed-out vocal harmonies of Ride and topped off with psychedelic drones familiar to Spacemen 3. This is a hypnotic hybrid of several different genres filtered through the kaleidoscope of all things psychedelic. Considered stalwarts of the modern 'psych' genre, they are known for their prolific discography of reverb-drenched recordings and liquid-projected live performances. With a sound all their own and neo-psychedelic / shoegaze learnings, they are often compared to acts like Spacemen 3 and Paisley Underground kingpins The Rain Parade. This LP is pressed on 140 gram Translucent Orange vinyl with a download card and packaged with a gatefold sleeve.

Whether you called 'em art-rock or prog-rock, you had to emphasize the InchrockInch after hearing their third LP ('72). Some truly InchgentleInch moments can be found here, but most of this is nice 'n' heavy Prologue; Working All Day; Three Friends; Schooldays; Peel the Paint, and more plus bonus tracks!

Invitation is the debut album by Filthy Friends, the new supergroup from Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney), Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Kurt Bloch (The Fastbacks), Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5) and Bill Rieflin (King Crimson). The 12-song collection works through a flurry of different moods and styles, genre exercises and joyous experiments. The intricate guitar knots and blasts of bubblegum pop of Buck's beloved Television are all over the herky-jerky InchWindmill.Inch A mashup of '60s downer vibes and rootsy rumblings makes up the marvelous InchSecond LifeInch whereas InchCome Back ShelleyInch is all swagger and glitz in the style of a lost glam rock 45. There ain't nothing this band can't do with the wet clay of rock music and what they sculpt out of it is pure art.
