A: No you don’t have to print the photo you can save it to an SD card, print, or send it to a phone.
Q: Can you take pictures and save on an SD with no film in the camera?
A: You can take pictures and save them to a micro as card. I’m not sure about having film in the camera as I’ve not tried it but since it is a hybrid camera I believe you can.
