About this product

Limited yellow colored vinyl LP pressing. Includes . Over the last two decades Brighton's Fujiya & Miyagi have been steadily building a vast body of work that explores 1970's Germany-tinged beats, whip smart electronica, intoxicating disco, shimmering pop and generally concocting an idiosyncratic blend of dance music that sounds utterly and uniquely their own. The group have decided to revisit their 2008 record, Lightbulbs, as it had been out of print since it's initial . The follow up to 'Transparent Things', the record includes the singles 'Knickerbocker', 'Sore Thumb and 'UH'. The latter song has steadily increased in popularity due to it's use in the first season of 'Breaking Bad'. The group expanded and remoulded their aesthetic on this , introducing live drums on some tracks as well as adding an influence of French 70s pop and 90s RnB to the equation. Lightbulbs still remains unquestionably Fujiya & Miyagi sounding, tweaking their past aesthetic whilst creating a bridge to where they would travel next. With a plush new re-master, the album sounds crisper and punchier than it did before. It's a fascinating snapshot of a group in transition as they start to shed their formative influences and travel onwards.

Fujiya & Miyagi - Slight Variations - VINYL LP

Limited blue colored vinyl LP pressing. InchWe like the idea that if someone were new to us and they played this record it would convey everything that we are about.Inch To convey the almost 20-year career of the band is to take a deep dive into all forms of electronic music - from pop to house to disco to acid - along with nods to 1970s Germany, psychedelia, funk and art pop. And that's exactly what this record does, while also capturing the duality of a band who can craft meticulously constructed studio music as seamlessly as they can lock into unpredictable yet infectious grooves on stage.

Fujiya & Miyagi - Flashback - VINYL LP

After the deeply ambitious three EP trilogy Impossible Objects of Desire in 2017, Fujiya & Miyagi are to their 7th full length album. InchThis record started life as our funk record,Inch says Fujiya & Miyagi's David Best. InchYet once we got into the production stage our embryonic funk songs moved closer to electro in feel. Although this is our funkiest album to date and the funk is deliberate.InchIt's not surprising that a sense of evolution and stylistic shift would take place within the process of putting together a single record, given Fujiya & Miyagi's near two decade career of genre-hopping across Krautrock, electronica, disco, pop, funk and anything else they feel like throwing into their smart yet deeply accessible take on electronic music. Whilst this album might be rooted in nostalgia, with everything the pair do there's still a feeling of momentum and something fresh. A tired re-hash of familiar sounds this is not. Instead it finds a group re-connecting with the potent music of their youth and connecting it with their well-learned musical chops as adults. The pair's recent listening habits of African music can even be heard faintly amongst the dance floor-destined blasts of electro. InchIt's creeping in here but will be even more apparent on the next record, Inch Best says. The album is ultimately one about escape and abandon. About embracing and reliving lost moments on the dance floor charged by the surge and power of youthful remembrance. Or, as Lewis says, InchFlashback is a flashback to less complicated times with no responsibilities. It's also about the odd fragments of memories that stay with you.TRACKLISTING01. Flashback02. Joyfultalk - A Separation Of Being - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Free-thinking Nova Scotia composer, musician and visual artist Jay Crocker (aka JOYFULTALK) channels Minimalism, Japanese environmental music, Maghrebian rhythmic modes and other numinous folkways to create his most focused, vibrant work to date. Based on a monumental, kaleidoscopic graphic score, A Separation Of Being is translated from two-dimensional page to trans-dimensional aural life using an array of homemade instruments, crowned with a majestic string arrangement written by Crocker and performed by Polaris and Juno winner Jesse Zubot (Tanya Tagaq, Destroyer). Visual scores often provoke ideas of openness, interpretation, improv and fluidity. JOYFULTALK's third album, and second for Constellation, is an altogether different beast. This three-part suite is airtight; interlocking arcs of polyrhythmic deep groove and new minimalism roll out in spellbinding propulsion, the music gathering it's warmth from the strings and it's peculiarities from Crocker's bespoke instrumentation and analog clockworks. The separation of being here is not division or rupture, but buoyant freedom through conduction of circulatory energies, marked by flowing melodic rondos of gyrating strings and sonic pointillism. A Separation Of Being is a systems music feast for the heart and mind. And lest we forget the eyes Crocker began developing 'The Planetary Music System', his particular methodology for visualized composition, in 2012. The score for A Separation Of Being is the pinnacle of his system to date. Impressive in scale and scope, this stunning 5'x10' mural (acquired by Nova Scotia's provincial Art Bank in 2019) features geometric multi-directional cycles of brightly-coloured, finely-detailed sound notation. Album packaging on CD and audiophile 180g LP features details on the outer jacket cover art, and a reproduction of the full score on the inside gatefold, and as an exquisite 12In
