Future Teens are growing up together. It's been ten years since they coined the term 'bummer pop' to describe their tracks about romantic frustrations, misfortunes and miscommunications. As you get older, the bummers get heavier and more complex, but the friendships and life lessons that help carry you through them also grow deeper and more meaningful. On their fourth album Still Life, the band - guitarists/vocalists Daniel Radin and Amy Hoffman and drummer Colby Blauvelt - present a collection of headfirst dives into grief, anger, shame, regret, identity, and ultimately, the hope that only comes from winning a staring contest with the abyss. Hoffman and Radin were using their songwriting to process the heavy life changes that have ushered in their mid-thirties personal losses, Hoffman's journey to sobriety, and the general stock-taking of your life that comes with age. They recorded across several months, resulting in a version of Future Teens that sounds more polished and expansive than ever before. The record follows 2017's Hard Feelings, 2019's Breakup Season and 2022's Self Help, as well as tours with the likes of The Wonder Years, Hot Mulligan, Oso Oso, Aaron West and Free Throw. All the while, they band have prioritized building a community of fans and fellow bands based around friendship, vulnerability and joy, an antidote to music industry pressure that has kept Future Teens treading their own path for over a decade.

Composer and violinist Felix Treiber was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1960 and studied at the State Conservatory for Music in Freiburg with Nicolas Chumachenco and Wolfgang Marschner. In 1984 he founded the Spohr Quartet, which performed extensively in Germany and throughout Europe. Between 1987 and 2001, Felix Treiber served as concert master of the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe. Currently he is artistic director and composer-in-residence of the Ensemble Sorpresa, a large chamber ensemble known for it's innovative programs. Treiber's works for orchestra, concertos, song cycles and various combinations for mixed ensembles have been performed in Europe, Japan, Russia and the USA. His compositions have been broadcast on different radio stations and released on albums. This 2-album showcases his chamber music, written between 2005 and 2018.

2016 . Michael Shackelford first wrote down the words “future” and “elevators” a few years ago on a rough instrumental demo. The music never grew into a finished song, but that simple, surprisingly evocative phrase stuck. It's an apt phrase for one of Birmingham's most original musical acts. Shackelford-the group's founder, mainstay, and guiding creative force-is something of a pop confectioner who thinks up impossible sounds and makes them a reality. His self-titled debut as Future Elevators expertly mixes whimsy and gravity, the fantastical with the everyday. Even as he grounds his lyrics in real-world issues, he fills his songs with new and improbable combinations of familiar sounds the jagged pastoral folk of ‘Alabama Song’, the Rube Goldberg blues riffs of ‘Machine Maker’, the retro-futuristic R&B of ‘Modern World’, the warm drone of the ten-minute instrumental closer ‘Aphrodite’. Shackelford spent a year piecing his debut album together. Recording with him was Lynn Bridges (Devendra Banhart/Dexateens) and the album was mixed by Darrell Thorp (Radiohead/Beck).
