Gabriela Garrubo - Rodando - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

With her riveting Blue Note debut Diavola, vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa makes her artistic arrival with an album that unveils her range as a band leader, a songwriter, and a fearless song interpreter who treats each gesture with subtlety and reverence. Co-produced by Joshua Redman & Don Was, Diavola is a collection of original songs and luminous arrangements that features an extraordinary cast of collaborators with Jeff Parker on guitar, Paul Cornish on piano, Larry Grenadier on bass, Brian Blade on drums, and Redman on tenor saxophone.

Originally from Colombia, New York-based pianist/composer Gabriel Guerrero fearlessly navigates the breadth of modern music, imbuing his performances with rhythmic & harmonic influences from South America to the avant-garde and the rich expanses of Jazz. Guerrero exalts his music with a high understanding of it's roots, bringing his aesthetic and an emotional heft to each phrase. With the inspired band of Seth Trachy on sax, bassist Will Slater, and drummer Felix Lecaros, Quantum distills the power of their collective improvisations through Guerrero's intriguing compositions, spreading light through the cascade of unique moments.
