About this product
Vinyl LP pressing. As a founding member of The E Street Band, Garry Tallent has spent a considerable portion of his life touring the world and playing for legions of fans. In between these musical campaigns, the question fans most often ask is, InchSo, what do you do in your break time?Inch With his new album, Garry now has the perfect answer. Break Time is a wonderfully raucous collection of twelve original songs, all written or co-written by Garry. Reaching back to the sounds that initially inspired him; the songs on Break Time use the music of the '50s as a framework. But this is no museum piece! Using a largely acoustic ensemble, Garry captures the timeless energy of the era when rock and roots music was born. Upright bass, accordion, archtop guitar and real drums come together in a jubilant festival of song. Recorded live to 8-track tape at Nashville musician Paul Burch's Pan American Studios, Break Time is a triumph of analog music making. Co-produced by Garry and Eddie Angel, founder of Los Straitjackets, it sounds like the work of a man who has been in love with rock and roll his entire life. And that's exactly what it is; Every last note of it.

Vinyl LP pressing. I learned how to play music by ear, and just haven't learned how to read music since, says Tallent. I would listen to the popular music of the day back then. My favorite was Buddy Holly. And I would mimic what he played on my cheap guitar. Step forward a few years later and Garry becomes a member of Bruce Springsteens The E Street Band It wasnt until 2016 that Tallent decided to step out of his comfort zone and finally become his own boss with the of his first solo album, Break Time. He jokes that it took him 65 years to put the album together, and when asked about it, he seems uneasy and looks away. When his gaze returns, so has his confidence and the realization that there's no need to be anxious. Since Break Time, Garry has been working on his second solo , More Like Me. More Like Me is Garrys homage to the sound of the mid-60s; the sounds he grew up and learned by ear on his cheap guitar. He hopes you like it.

After the first Guitar Works (Tactus TC 960203) album, the production dedicated to the guitar by composer Raffaele Bellafronte continues on this new by exploring new paths, from the phonic point of view combining the six strings to classical and less usual instruments, and through the writing where the author refers to both classical and popular forms. In this world premiere recording, Davide Di Ienno's guitar plays the role of soloist in two tracks, then confronting himself in chamber dialogues with the bandoneon, violin, marimba and mandolin in a series of compositions that actively contribute to this challenge that throughout the twentieth century left us a lot of precious music.
