  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: true (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: What is the noise decibel rating on this model?

A: Not sure of exact decibel rating but unit is extremely quiet and does not clean anything. I'd consider a louder unit that gives you clean dishes.

Q: What does it cost to install it??

A: I think Best Buy charges about $160 for installation but there is also a hook up kit for another $15 and they charge $10 or $15 to haul away your old dishwasher.

Q: One of the pictures for this dishwasher clearly shows someone removing tines on the lower rack. Can you do that with this model?

A: Hi Birdland- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! Yes, the dishwasher features a lower Wash Your Way Customizable Rack. The lower rack has removable tines that are positioned in one continuous loading direction. With most racks, the tines face opposite directions, so plates and dishes face each other in the center of the rack. With the Wash Your Way rack, plates face in one continuous direction versus changing direction in the center. Align the tines to fit your best loading direction based on which side of the sink the dishwasher is located. The tines can also be completely removed to create a 100% flat loading space, perfect for large cookware items such as stock pots. Remove just one row or both rows of tines. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: How do you open the door on the jet finish compartment?

A: Flip up the lid titled Rinse Aid and pour it into the small area.

Q: When I shut the door to start a wash, the start button blinks and keeps beeping. I have moved everything out of the way and it keeps happening.

A: Oh gosh. The same thing happened to us, and in fact was just on here to write a bad review for GE because of this problem. They are replacing our dishwasher for free, but we’ve had a broken dishwasher for longer than we’ve had a functioning dishwasher at this point because of the slow customer service. They deemed our dishwasher unrepairable because of this issue.

Q: Just moved into our new home a couple months ago. Our dishwasher door when opening slams down unless you hold it. There is no spring to allow it from slamming open. Is this normal or should have a spring so you can open it slightly to air it out.

A: Hi Paradise- Congratulations on your new home! This is not normal. We suggest to increase tension as shown on page 6 of the Installation Guide at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-31572.pdf - Keep in touch! Sue

Q: Does this model allow the steam to come out of the vent in the front door during the heated dry cycle? I’m looking for one that does, and DO NOT want one that I am required to use a rinse/drying aid, because I have severe chemical sensitivities.

A: Hi Kimmy- Yes, the dishwasher vent is located on the top left corner of the control panel. Styrofoam is placed in the vent area on the dishwasher door to prevent moisture from the steam and humidity from dripping. While all dishwashers feature a rinse aid dispenser, rinse agent is recommended but not required. Using a rinse agent is important, especially in hard water areas. A rinse agent breaks down the surface tension of water, improving water flow off the dishes. This reduces drying time as well as water spotting and streaking. Thanks for choosing GE! SUEatGEA

Q: When I shut the door and push the start the light will come on and blink and start beeping

A: Hi-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! We are happy to help. If the Start Status indicator light flashes, this generally indicates the door was opened or the cycle was interrupted. Make sure the door is completely closed. Press the Start pad once to start the dishwasher. If the dishwasher beeps once every minute, this is a reminder that the door has been left open. It will continue until you press Start and close the door. See page 14 of the Owner's Manual for reference: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55097-2.pdf- If the door is hitting the cabinet, it will not close properly. The dishwasher must be aligned in the cabinet so it does not interfere with the closing of the door. Make sure the dishwasher is leveled. Make sure the upper rack is in the correct position. The rack is adjustable up or down 2" but should not be raised or lowered on one side only. If the rack is not level, it will not push in all the way. This prevents the door from closing all the way.
