  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: true (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)
    • Operating Sound Level: 50 decibels adjusted (Today's appliances are pretty quiet. To get a sense for how quiet you'll need, think about having a conversation in the same room. Q: Hi, I just have the machine installed couple days. And it stops working just once of usage. It does not drain the water out. I suspect the installation error, or the machine error. Please have someone checking. Thank you!

A: If water won’t pump out of the tub, the drain may be clogged and you should try the following troubleshooting tips. If you have an air gap, clean it. See instructions on page 18 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website. If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, run the disposer clear. Lastly, check to see if your kitchen sink is draining well. If not, you may need a plumber. -- If those tips don’t help, we recommend scheduling service online by visiting the GE Appliances website or by calling 833-4BODEWELL (833-426-3393) M-F 8AM-8PM ET, Sat-Sun: Closed. Lauren@GEAppliances

Q: after a wash/dry cycle is complete, why is there so much water left in the bottom drain?! seems like more than 2 cups!

A: For help with this concern, please follow the tips in the "Water won’t pump out of the tub" section on pg. 21 of the Owner's Manual. If this information doesn't prove helpful, we recommend scheduling a service appointment for one of our Bodewell technicians to assess your unit. You can schedule an appointment by calling us at: 1-800-432-2737. -Don@GEAppliances

Q: Is the white glossy or a more plasticky finish?

A: This dishwasher has a white painted metal finish. It is a glossy white that is sure to look great in any kitchen.

Q: Does this model have a rack for glass stem ware

A: No, this model does not have the Stem Safe shelf. The GDT550PGRBB model in our current line up is one of the model we offer in black that offers the "stem safe shelf". Which, to clarify is different from the bottle washer clips.

Q: Is the tub stainless steel?

A: Tub is plastic

Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the excellent cleaning performance and quiet operation of this dishwasher. The third rack is also a popular feature, offering extra space for various items. However, some users have expressed concerns about the top-mounted controls and longer cycle times compared to previous models. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and noise levels outweighs the negative comments on controls and cycle duration.

    Super quiet and powerful dishwasher

Really loving my new dishwasher. Pros 1. Cleans dishes really well with no prescrubbing. 2. Super quiet. You barely know its running. 3. Top controls are less tempting for children. Cons 1. You wont use the top 3rd rack near as much as you think. It is narrow and some cooking untensils dont fit. It also makes it harder to put tall glasses on top shelf. 2. The bottle jets are on a raised part if the rack so tall glasses and bottles dont fit on them without crashing the top rack. 3. If you choose to run heavy cycle, with dry boost, sanitize, and bottle jets, it takes 5 hours to clean. That said I still love and recommend this dishawasher. It cleans very well and I have no problem waiting 5 hours if it means I dont have to scrub before or after.

    Only One Minor Annoyance

I love the third rack on this; such a game changer. Dishwasher cleans effectively, but one minor annoying bit is that when I'm unloading, My shin often bumps against the controls and triggers them, sometimes changing my settings. Minor annoyance, like I said, but definitely worth mentioning. After having it over a year, all plastic/silicone dishes have been covered in a white greasy residue that needs to be scrubbed off in the sink after a wash cycle, but I don't know yet if it's a dishwasher problem or a consumer problem.
