Suddenly a band that had previously planned to some music, break up, and go away to college was touring the world. And during this entire process, that very same band everyone was getting to know ceased to exist. On a practical level, Geese are still the group we were introduced to in 2021. But spiritually, Geese have returned as an entirely different prospect. Their new album 3D Country is the sound of a restless, adventurous band redefining themselves. Anyone who has seen Geese live recently might've noticed the band adopted a different vibe onstage - more of a volcanic, unpredictable aesthetic. It turns out that wasn't a flipside to the recordings of Projector, but foreshadowing that there was more to the story. Knowing they were now beyond teenage basement experiments and were instead making something for an audience who would hear it, Geese felt emboldened. InchWhen we were writing Projector it was about narrowing the scope, trying to do more with less,Inch Gus Green says. InchWhen we started writing for 3D Country we were trying to do a lot more and seeing what worked and what didn't.Inch At the same time, they're well aware of how significant a departure they've made. It wasn't necessarily a given that Geese would overhaul their sound, but with age came new adventures and interests. In 1977 Gentle Giant recorded their ninth studio album InchThe Missing Piece. Inch It was a time of change. Punk, disco and rap were altering the musical landscape and even this well-established progressive rock band were willing to explore new directions. Side one saw them experimenting with quirky pop (InchTwo weeks in SpainInch), a grandiose power ballad (InchI'm turning around'), syncopated funk (InchWho do you think you are?Inch) and even the punky aggression of InchBetcha thought we couldn't do it. InchNormal service was resumed on side two with some of their most sublime and intricate progressive stylings to date. It remains a polarizing effort amongst fans to this day, some bemused by it's diversity, others enchanted by it's versatility and sense of humor. The Missing Piece certainly proves that Gentle Giant could play anything they set their minds to. It was the last Gentle Giant album to chart in the USA. Award winning producer and musician Steven Wilson continues his association with the band, remixing the album in Dolby Atmos, Stereo and 5. 1 surround sound. In addition the digipak CD/Blu-ray version also contains an instrumental mix, the original 1977 stereo mix and videos for each track.

With their 1970 debut album, the band - Derek Shulman (vocals), Gary Green (guitar), Kerry Minnear (keys), Phil Shulman (trumpet), Ray Shulman (bass) und Martin Smith (drums) - presented their eclectic mix of pop, rock, classical and jazz.
