Evangelic Girl is a Gun is yeule's most unrestrained and emotionally baring work yet, as they grapple with ideas of a self-destructive identity burning through the canvas of post-modernity. Accompanied by still visual artworks made in collaboration with artist Vasso Vu and a video for the latest single shot by the aforementioned Neil Krug, Cmiel explores the duality of darkness, as well as their personal history to their role as the Inchpainter.Inch Through the album's hypnotic melodies, they present a portrait of the tortured artist trapped within an image, as Cmiel's haunting vocals act as an emotional chokehold atop dance beats. Evangelic Girl is a Gun sees Cmiel putting their own InchcyborgianInch spin on Bristol trip-hop and '90s gothic. The album features production from A.G. Cook, Chris Greatti, Mura Masa, Clams Casino, Fitnesss and Kin Leonn, Cmiel's trusted collaborator and co-executive producer of 2023's softscars. Cape Town's Internet Girl have been quietly building one of the most unpredictable careers to come out of South Africa's underground, blurring the jagged urgency of post-punk with the swagger of internet-age hip hop. After breaking out in 2024 with InchPULL UPInch-a feral, genre-agnostic single that became one of the country's biggest global exports-the group have toured relentlessly across Europe, including a stop at Pitchfork Paris that confirmed their reputation as a livewire force. Their new EP, THOSE WHO ARE AGAINST US ALL THE TIME, doubles down on their refusal to play by the rules InchNEEDYInch, a sharp-edged collaboration with Lancey Foux, and InchOKAY!Inch, their latest single, tilt between chaos and catharsis. Just as comfortable on festival stages as in fashion campaigns, Internet Girl's partnerships with Adidas, FC Barcelona, Puma, DIESEL, H&M, and Spotify speak to their reach across music, style, and youth culture-a reminder that they are less a band than a movement testing how far disruption can go.
