Girma Yifrashewa - My Strong Will - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

For Erik Satie, his whole life was a single theatre. Even his whimsical outfit was carefully staged always the same suit, with melon and umbrella, but never unfolded to protect it. Steffen Schleiermacher now directs the spotlight on Satie's seventh series of piano works to his compositions for the stage, including Satie's last work ever, InchRelâcheInch, which brought together theatre, music and film in what was then a radically modern multimedia way. Steffen Schleiermacher is a pianist, composer, and festival and concert promoter. He studied piano (Gerhard Erber), composition (Siegfried Thiele, Friedrich Schenker) and conducting (Günter Blumhagen) at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music in Leipzig from 1980 until 1985. He was master pupil for composition with Friedrich Goldmann at the Academy of Arts in Berlin during 1986/87 and for piano with Aloys Kontarsky at the Cologne Academy of Music during 1989/90. Steffen Schleiermacher has concertized as a soloist with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Deutsche Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and other orchestras under Vladimir Ashkenazy, Friedrich Goldmann, Ingo Metzmacher, Wladimir Jurowski and Fabio Luisi. Schleiermacher's recordings amount to more than 80 albums.

Michelle released their new EP GLOW. The project includes their previously released singles InchGLOWInch, InchAGNOSTIC, and InchNEVER AGAIN,Inch as well as focus single InchON THE LINE.Inch Speaking about the focus track the band shares, InchWritten after our first year of touring, 'ON THE LINE' narrates a phone call between lovers at a distance. This track highlights the simple warmth and comfort of a call, when you can't be near those you hold dear.Inch The project is first introduced with InchGLOWInch featuring soft instrumentals reminiscent of a pinball machine that builds into layered and rich harmonies. The lively and incandescent nature of the first track transitions to it's complimentary opposite, InchDNRInch (the abbreviation of Do Not Resuscitate), a slow-paced ballad detailing the unique rapture that only love can bring. On InchON THE LINE,Inch listeners will hear a shift from the collective as the song is led by an acoustic guitar, which creates a stripped-down ambiance continued onto track four, InchAGNOSTIC.Inch While keeping in line with themes of intense yearning the lyrics on their fifth and final track, InchNEVER AGAIN,Inch communicate the intensity of heartbreak while being guided by gentle taps on a xylophone to mimic a music box, effectively communicating the song's nostalgic tone. In just five tracks, this latest offering is a testament to the band's vocal and instrumental harmony, creative alignment, and masterful penmanship.

My Strong Will is a new album of InchEthiopian Classical MusicInch by Girma Yifrashewa. Recorded with Bulgarian musicians and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria, the album is a return to where Yifrashewa completed his own conservatory training in the late 1980s and early 1990s, across both sides of the fall of Communism. Guided by Yifrashewa's piano, these chamber works bring the music of Ethiopia into a Western Classical , uncovering meditative and emotional new vistas for both traditions.
