One of the greatest American soul music families in the history of R&B, Gladys Knight & the Pips elevated the world of soul music to higher heights through a long string of hits beginning in the mid 1960's including such classic recordings as InchI Heard It Through the GrapevineInch and InchMidnight Train to Georgia.Inch the act featured the amazing Gladys Knight on lead vocals, with the Pips, who included her brother Merald InchBubbaInch Knight and their cousins Edward Patten and William Guest, as backup singers. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation in 1998. Presented here is a compilation of some of the legendary group's earliest recordings, recorded just a few years before they would achieve world-wide fame. Originally recorded in 1962, all selections have been newly re-mastered.

The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows was originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland. This last year has seen Albarn return to the music in lockdown and develop the work to 11 tracks which further explore themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth. The result is a panoramic collection of songs with Albarn as storyteller. The album title is taken from a John Clare poem Love and Memory. Albarn says InchI have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist.InchIn a career of perpetual musical shifts and exploration, the record uncovers yet more ground, finding expansive orchestral arrangements nestling with intimate melodies, discordance brushing up against infectious majesty, all set to some of Albarn's most arresting vocal performances to date.
