Glenn Gould - Plays Beethoven Concerto 2 & Bach Concerto 1 - VINYL LP

Glenn Gould - Bach Goldberg Variations [VINYL LP] Ltd Ed, 180 Gram date 02/03/2015

Glenn Gould maintained a very peculiar relationship, a sort of love and hate, with Beethoven's music, which he performed out of any traditional scheme or system. This CD presents two live Gould rarities, the first one being the Piano Concerto No.5 in E-flat, op. 73 InchEmperorInch, recorded live in Buffalo, NY on 6 November 1960 with the conductor Josef Krips. The second live recording on this CD, taking place only two weeks earlier, concerns Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.2 in B-flat, op. 19, conducted by Paul Paray, in an original and personal performance by both these artists. This very significant addition to the discography of Glenn Gould furthers the image of this eclectic, fascinating and singular artist.

A landmark recording by the legendary Glenn Gould, this LP showcases his brilliant interpretations of Bach's Italian Concerto in F Major, BWV 971 and the first two Partitas (BWV 825 & BWV 826). Recorded in New York City in 1959, these performances reflect Gould's signature clarity, precision, and emotional depth. From the lyrical Andante of the Italian Concerto to the spirited Capriccio of Partita No. 2, this is Bach reimagined by one of the 20th century's greatest pianists.
