Glory - 4K Blu-Ray [Standard] [4K Ultra HD Blu-ray]

Glory is possibly the greatest movie of all time. Every time you see this movie. Its like seeing it for the first time. This true 4k disc is superior to the 4k masterd version which came out a few years ago. Both smoke the 2009 bluray. Of course there is some natural film grain. Never has a music soundtrack matched a movie in a union of perfection!

I finally got around to seeing this. I enjoyed it, and thought it was really good. Picture quality was fantastic. Some scenes showed their age, but overall the transfer was well done.

Glory is a phenomenally well done historical drama about the first unit of black Northern soldiers who fought in battle against Southern white troops during the American Civil war. The story and the the narration in the film are based upon the treasure trove of actual letters sent home to his mother by Robert Gould Shaw, the commander of this very first black combat unit. Everything from the excellent script to the superlative directing by Edward Zwick shine brightly in this movie. Numerous actors received academy award nominations--and deservedly so. If you are a history buff, or just a fan of extremely good films, this movie comes most highly recommended. The 4K Ultra High Definition bluray looks good, but ,unfortunately, films from this era exhibit a fair amount of film grain and this movie is no exception. The presentation otherwise looks good and the sound (including an exceptional music score) comes through magnificently. One critic called Glory "One of the best historical dramas ever filmed", and I can't dispute him on that. This is a beautifully made movie and a truly moving cinematic experience. Do yourself a favor and don't miss it.

Glory is based on the true story of the Union Army's first all black company to see action in the Civil War. All of the performances are outstanding and, of course, Denzel Washington won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. The last Blu-ray release of Glory was excellent but this new 4K HDR10 release ups the ante in all of the technical aspects. The HDR image is superb with tons of detail, beautiful colors and very deep black levels. The new Atmos soundtrack is detailed and wonderfully immersive. If you have any of the prior Blu-ray releases and now have a 4K TV, upgrading to this new version is a must.

This is a excellent film. It recounts true events from the Civil War. The acting and writing is exceptional. An early film role from Denzel Washington earned him a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman and the rest of the cast really make the movie. Highly recommended!
