Gold-Bears - Dalliance - VINYL LP

2018 . We last heard Gérald Toto on trio album Bondeko, recorded with fellow global travellers Lokua Kanza and Richard Bona, the Inchdreamy backdropInch and Inchimmaculate sweet harmoniesInch of which earned a run of four and five star reviews, leading one reviewer to liken the trio to Inchan African Crosby, Stills and Nash.Inch Entirely written, performed and produced single-handedly by Gérald, Sway's collection of 11 new songs takes it's listener on an imaginary journey to a world that has time to stop and stare, where the frenetic din of modernity is hushed to a murmur, Toto's songs seemingly plucked from a place of timeless reverie. The songs on Sway refuse categorization, a cultural melting pot of acoustic folk, jazz, soul, pop and blues with cosmopolitan borders that embrace exotic Creole and Caribbean favours. Highlights include the sweet, sambatinged romance of InchMy GirlfriendInch and the futuristic doopwop that underpins InchUmbakaInch, alongside the diaphanous, sun-dappled lilt of Sway's title track. Elsewhere, the gravitydefying 'Away Alive' and 'Let It Blow' are leavened by the skittering electronic beats that drive 'It's A Love Pain' and eerie, atmospheric album closer 'The Night Is Coming'. For if quiet is the new loud, Gérald Toto's voice is blessed with an eloquence that demands to be heard, as his gently insistent songs whisper in an emotional language as universal as it is engaging. Sway to the rhythms of life.

Vinyl LP pressing includes . The Besnard Lakes return with The Golden Lion 12Inch - three brand new tracks as a precursor to a new album due in 2016. Make no mistake these are three tracks of The Besnard Lakes at their most glorious, anthemic, psychedelic best. In late 2014, The Besnard Lakes hit the road with a brand new line up; retaining the core of husband and wife team Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, plus longterm drummer Kevin Laing, they expanded to a five piece adding Sheena Ko (of the High Dials and USA out of Vietnam) plus Robbie Macarthur (also of the High Dials) on synths and guitar respectively. A total rejuvenation of the band, these were some of the most downright glorious and visceral shows The Besnard Lakes had played to date, blowing the roof off venue after venue with an enviable catalogue of anthems. As soon as they were back from tour, Lasek and Goreas hunkered down to write some of the most definitive Besnard Lakes songs to date. The Golden Lion, taken from the forthcoming album, is a perfect distilment of everything that is great about the band. A kaleidoscopic Beatles-esque verse gives way to one of the most glorious Besnard Lakes choruses yet delivered, a true classic in the making. B-sides InchThe MotorwayInch and InchIn the ForestInch are exclusive to this 12Inch and are prime slices of hazy psychedelia.
