I can make and receive calls on the watch it self. Fast charging. I like the fact that it gives you two different options for the bands. I use it everyday.

Google has released the Pixel Watch 5. With new features, Gemini integration, an AI backed health coach, just to name a few, this is a good updated model of the Pixel Watch series. In The Box What I got in the box was the Pixel Watch 5, watch band, and charging dock. The notch side of the watch band has two sizes to accommodate anyone. It to me a few seconds to see how the band connects to the watch, but after that, I got each side connected. Setup Setup was very straightforward. It didn’t take long to get up and running. The prompts were simple and easy to follow. Google Pay, Gemini, and the health app were easy to setup. I didn’t run into any problems with setting up the watch or any of it’s features. Configuration is also streamlined to be simple. Features Google Pay is nice to have. It keeps me from having to take my phone out of my pocket to use it at the store. Gemini worked flawlessly. Add in the gesture feature, that allows me to raise my arm and turn my wrist toward me and say Hey Google to activate the assistant, simplifies the use of the assistant. I have to admit that this is, to me, the best feature of the watch. I can use this without having to take my phone out of my pocket and the voice interface through the watch works really well. The speaker on the watch is clear, so I’m able to hear the assistant’s responses clearly. I have also paired my Bluetooth earbuds with it, so I can hear the assistant’s responses through those when I’m out walking or jogging. The integration with the Health app is a plus and I would say my second best feature. The Health keeps track of so many metrics. Sleep, heart rate, exercises, SPo2, calories burned, and many others. Google has integrated an AI (Gemini) backed health coach. This was a great idea by Google and it works really well. I typically walk to my grocery store, so I use the watch to track the walk. The thing is that when I stop walking and I’m waiting in line to check out, the watch automatically sees this as the end of the walk. When I finish checking out, and begin the second half of the walk, it logs it as a second walk exercise. The health coach though saw this as one and merged the walks together automatically. It also noticed that the second half of the walk involved a higher heart rate so it asked me what was the cause of the pause and the slightly increased heart rate on the second half of the walk. I pointed out the reason for the pause and that the second half of the walk involved me carrying multiple bags of groceries in each hand. The equivalent of carrying a 6-8 lb. dumbbell in each hand on the second leg of the walk. It understood what that ment and suggested a few stretches to unwind from that. The health coach also has made suggestions to help me get to sleep sooner and to help get more restorative sleep. I has helped a lot and I really like it. The battery life is ok. I can get 1.5 days of battery life out of it. It would be nice to see 3+ days, but I have the 41mm sized version, so the battery can’t be very big. The next size up likely has a larger battery and may last a little longer. The charge cradle that comes with it allows me to set the watch on it’s side while charging. It keeps the watch face vertical so I can see the time on the watch face while it is charging. I like that. My other smart watches I have to lay down horizontal which doesn’t allow me to see the watch face. Google thought the cradle through when designing it. Charging the Pixel Watch is fast. Two contacts on the cradle touch two contacts on the watch. It allows for reducing the amount of time it takes to charge up to 100%. Final Thoughts This is a good addition to Google’s line of watches. They have stepped it up with this version. I like the direction Google is going with the Pixel Watch 5. If you are looking for a smart watch that also allows for the easy use of an AI assistant and tracks a tremendous number of health metrics with an AI backed health coach, then consider the Google Pixel Watch 5.

This is my first time with a Google watch. I wanted to experience the full Android/Google platform. Connected to my pixel phone. Out of the box comes with three wrist bands and the charger cable. No wall plug is included. It took longer than it should to connect to my pixel phone. While my other major brand android kept picking it up. After finally connecting to the pixel. I started going through the settings. Several customized watch faces are available. You can also customize trackers like steps, weather, heart rate, etc. I have the 41 millimeter version. The face is small but it's easy to use and navigate. There is one physical button that can be pressed or turned. Swipe functions can be used to navigate through the watch. Widgets, apps and other functions can be added through the app store. Voice commands can also be used with this watch. The watch does not charge from the rear but through its side. This is a negative point for me because most devices can be charged wirelessly from the rear. Overall this is great watch to start with.

I was wearing a Google Pixel Watch 1st gen for the longest time, and I hesitated to upgrade thinking that maybe not enough updates had gone into the 5th gen. I was wrong. The 360 screen is beautiful and so fluid. It's like silk. The crown is amazing with the ability to press down to get you home or scroll up or down between menus/apps. And the side button that takes you to the previously used app is awesome. These are all small updates that make a huge difference. I'm glad I went with the 5th gen after all.

I have google pixel 4. It was a pretty bad watch as far as battery life. So far I don’t experience any issue with battery life with this watch.

Love my Google Pixel Watch! Notification and Updates are available on my wrist without pulling out my phone.

The new health tracking features are the real deal — accurate, well integrated, and genuinely useful day to day. My one gripe: Bluetooth starts dropping right around 30 feet, so walking away from my desk with earbuds in is a gamble. If your devices stay close it's a non-issue, but it's an annoying limitation. Still worth it for the health features alone.

Google bought out fitbit so health, sleep and fitness stats are laid out very well and are accurate. No complaints and does things fast. Vibration is strong enough for me to know when i received a notification and the water resistance is great

The Google Pixel 5 is great. Lots of options. Easy to navigate. The only thing I would change is the battery life.

Pros: -Good battery life -Easy to operate -Comfortable -Alerts Cons: -Did not pair with my Pixel 8 The Pixel 5 is a light and comfortable watch. I use it mainly to monitor my health and track my sleep, which it does a good job of. It charges fast and has good battery life. This was intended to be paired with my Pixel 8 phone, however I had issues pairing it, and instead had to pair it with my Samsung S24 Ultra. Setting up was a troubled start. First, I tried to pair this with my Pixel 8, since it’s supposed to be seamless and integrated with it. However it would not pair at all. Both the phone and app were up to date. After about 30 minutes and multiple attempts, I gave up and paired it with my Samsung S24 Ultra instead, which was my main phone anyways. It paired instantly, so it may have been an issue with my Pixel 8. I was able to download the health app and pair it with it, which took a little bit of messing around with since the health app was previously part of the FitBit program and I had to migrate my account first. Once paired, everything went smoothly. The watch is overall very comfortable and light. Some of the previous watches I used gave me skin irritation, as I'm pretty allergic to some materials, but this one has been good so far. The battery life overall is pretty good. It lasted about 42 hours, and it charged fairly quickly as well, going from zero to 100% in roughly 40 minutes. I just plug it in daily in the morning as I’m getting ready. One very minor gripe is that the charging puck is a tad bulky and that I’ll have another cable to take when I’m traveling. The alerts sent to my watch are fairly accurate, and the screen is pretty clear. I get pictures of people coming to my door from my Google Home camera system, as well as other various alerts that have pictures. The built in apps work flawlessly and are very intuitive and easy to operate. The biggest benefit for me is that it does a very good job of tracking my sleep. I am noticing patterns where I could improve things, and will be going to a sleep study to compare notes of what the watch sees and what they see from their devices. Hopefully with continued use, I will be able to improve my sleep and overall health by tracking steps and activities. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this watch. It’s comfortable to wear and the battery life is good. It tracks my sleep well, and the alerts and apps are useful as well. I did have some trouble setting it up with my Pixel phone, but that may be an issue with that phone in particular as it was able to pair with my Samsung without issues.

OVERALL The Google Pixel Watch 5 is a strong update to Google’s smartwatch lineup. It is lightweight, comfortable, easy to operate, and especially useful for health tracking, sleep monitoring, fitness, notifications, and hands-free access to Gemini. This is not a dramatic redesign compared with the Pixel Watch 4. At a glance, it looks very similar to last year’s watch, which may make it easy to mistake one for the other. Instead, the Pixel Watch 5 is more of a refinement: it feels better built, has a brighter display, performs a little faster, charges very quickly, and adds more AI-focused health and assistant features. I use it primarily to track sleep, monitor health metrics, log walks and other activity, and view alerts from my phone and Google Home. The round 41mm watch face looks good, is easy to read, and does not feel overly large or heavy on the wrist. The domed design also gives the watch faces a more elegant look. It has a clean, modern appearance that works well as both a fitness tracker and an everyday watch. KEY TAKEAWAYS + Lightweight, comfortable design suitable for all-day and overnight wear + Refined build quality, though the exterior design is very similar to the previous model + Elegant domed Actua 360 display that gives the watch a distinctive curved appearance + Bright, clear display that is easier to use outdoors and in daylight + Available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with approximately 1.2-inch and 1.4-inch displays respectively + Straightforward setup and intuitive controls + Snappy Wear OS performance with slightly faster app launches and smoother menus + Reliable Bluetooth connectivity and clean notification syncing with Pixel phones + Gemini integration for timers, reminders, opening apps, starting exercises, and hands-free commands + Basic Gemini functions can run directly on the watch, including when a phone connection is not available + Useful Gemini message-based quick actions, though they appear limited at the moment + Strong sleep, heart-rate, activity, exercise, SpO2, and step tracking + Health sensors provide consistent tracking throughout the day + Companion health app presents key metrics clearly without unnecessary clutter + AI-backed health coaching provides useful context and suggestions + Accurate and useful phone, app, and Google Home alerts + Roughly 1.5 days of battery life with normal use; potentially closer to three days with daytime-only use + Fast charging and a well-designed cradle that keeps the watch face visible while charging + Google Pay adds convenient tap-to-pay functionality IN THE BOX AND SETUP The box includes the Pixel Watch 5, a watch band, and the charging dock. The included band has two size options on the notched side, making it easy to adjust for different wrist sizes. It took only a few seconds to understand how the band connects to the watch, and after that it was simple to attach both sides. Setup was straightforward. The prompts were easy to follow, and it did not take long to get everything up and running. Google Pay, Gemini, and the health app were all simple to configure. I did not encounter any major issues during setup, and the overall configuration process felt streamlined rather than overly complicated. The Pixel Watch 5 works especially well with Pixel phones. The connection has been stable, Bluetooth has remained reliable, and notifications sync cleanly without frequent dropouts. That dependable integration makes the watch feel like a natural extension of the phone instead of a separate device that needs constant attention. DAILY USE AND FEATURES The watch is very comfortable and light. Some previous watches have caused skin irritation for me because I am sensitive to certain materials, but this one has been comfortable so far. It is easy enough to wear throughout the day and overnight, which is important for consistent sleep tracking. The display is one of the stronger parts of the watch. The domed Actua 360 screen matches the curve of the glass, giving it a distinctive look compared with flatter smartwatch displays. It is especially noticeable from the side, where part of the screen remains visible around the curved edge. The improved daylight brightness is also useful when checking the time, reading a notification, looking at health data, or viewing a workout outside. Daily navigation is smooth and responsive. Apps open quickly, menus move fluidly, and the built-in apps are easy to understand. The performance improvement is not dramatic compared with the Pixel Watch 4, but it is noticeable enough that the watch feels a little quicker when moving through menus, launching apps, or starting an exercise. Notifications come through reliably, including notifications from nearly every app on my phone by default, which includes a few I do not need, but it is simple to select which alerts should appear on the watch. Google Pay is another useful feature. It allows me to pay in stores without taking my phone out of my pocket. That is a small convenience, but it becomes useful quickly when running errands or carrying groceries. Gemini is one of the best features of the watch. The ability to raise my arm, turn my wrist toward me, and say “Hey Google” makes using the assistant feel natural and convenient. I can ask questions, set reminders, start timers, get information, open supported apps, and start exercises without needing to pull out my phone. The improved processor also allows certain basic Gemini tasks to work directly from the watch, such as setting timers, opening apps, and beginning exercises. That makes the assistant more useful for quick commands when a phone connection is not available. Gemini also supports basic message-related quick actions, although that feature seems limited so far and may not appear consistently with every message. The speaker is clear enough that I can hear Gemini’s responses without difficulty. I have also paired Bluetooth earbuds with the watch, which is especially useful while walking or jogging. That gives me the option to use Gemini and hear responses privately when I am away from home. HEALTH AND FITNESS Health tracking is the main reason I use the Pixel Watch 5, and it performs well in that role. It tracks sleep, heart rate, exercise, steps, calories burned, SpO2, and other activity metrics. Heart-rate monitoring, daily step counts, and active workout tracking have been consistent throughout the day, and the companion health app lays out the information clearly without feeling overly cluttered. The watch gives me useful information about my habits and has helped me identify sleep patterns that I may be able to improve. The AI-backed health coach is one of the more interesting additions because it does more than simply display raw numbers. It can interpret activity trends and provide suggestions based on what it sees. The health coach has also offered suggestions aimed at helping me fall asleep sooner and get more restorative sleep. That has been genuinely useful, and it makes the health tracking feel more actionable than simply looking at numbers on a screen. One thing I will continue monitoring is calorie-burn data. Like most wearables, it should be treated as an estimate rather than an exact measurement, particularly on low-activity days. The sleep, step, activity, and heart-rate information has been more consistently useful for recognizing patterns over time. BATTERY AND CHARGING Battery life is good, though it depends heavily on how the watch is used. With regular use that includes daily wear and overnight sleep tracking, I get about a day and a half of battery life from the 41mm version. It would be nice to see three or more days under all conditions, but the smaller watch size naturally limits how large the battery can be. For people who wear the watch only during the day and turn it off at night, battery life can stretch closer to three days. That is a meaningful improvement over the original Pixel Watch and makes the charging schedule much easier to manage. Charging is extremely fast, and the charging cradle is thoughtfully designed. Instead of forcing the watch to lie flat, the cradle lets it rest on its side with the display facing outward. That means I can still see the time while it is charging, which is a small but genuinely useful detail. The charger uses two contact points that line up with contacts on the watch, helping reduce charging time. It is easy to place on the dock and quick to top up before leaving the house. My only minor complaint is that the charging puck adds another proprietary cable to bring along when traveling. CONCLUSION The Pixel Watch 5 is a meaningful addition to Google’s smartwatch line. It is not a major visual reinvention, and current Pixel Watch 4 owners may not see it as a must-have upgrade based on design alone. However, it improves on the previous model through refinement: a brighter domed display, smoother performance, faster charging, stronger Pixel-phone integration, more useful Gemini functionality, and a greater focus on health and fitness coaching. Its standout feature is the combination of detailed health data with an AI-backed health coach that can provide context, notice trends, combine related activity sessions, and suggest practical adjustments. The health sensors and companion app make it easy to follow heart rate, activity, steps, workouts, and sleep information without being overwhelmed by the data. Overall, this is a very good smartwatch for someone in the Google or Android ecosystem who wants a capable daily wearable with reliable phone connectivity, brighter outdoor visibility, practical health tracking, and convenient AI features. For Pixel phone users in particular, the Pixel Watch 5 feels like the natural companion device. This is worth 5-stars.

First, If you've never had a smart watch, there is a steep learning curve. I'm still learning about this watch after nearly a week of use. This is replacing a Fitbit air I tried, but really missed having a watch to see the time. Basic setup is easy and the watch will prompt you. I've got a pixel 10 Pro XL phone, so those with other branded phones may have a different experience. It syncs to the Google Health app pretty well. Caveat- Google health requires a subscription for premium feature and full use. The basic version is OK useful. I almost dropped a star because of this. The screen is bright and easy to see. With time I'll learn all about it and what this watch can do. It's been great for sleep tracking, and such. Some cons- Screen scratches easily. If you're hard on watches like I am, get a screen protector or cover. The Band- 2 sizes to fit you. It's soft and pliable. However, it's not comfortable for me, nor is it breathable. Aftermarket options exist. Battery life- Only about 36-40 hours. It does recharge fast. No owners manual. Like a lot of older people I HATE QR codes for manuals. That's made it a pain to learn about all the functionality of this watch. Maybe a link to some dedicated tutorial vids would be better for those of us that learn differently. If I had it to do over, I'd get the LTE version. But the wifi version is cool. Can still get notifications and phone calls (Sound isn't great). All in all, I'd highly recommend this smart watch. Just take time to learn about it.
