Following on from Fenella, Jane Weaver's score for Marcell Jankovics Feherlofia', and Death and Vanilla's reworking of 'The Tenant' and 'Vampyr'.A specially recorded soundtrack for Alfred Hitchcock's legendary Ripper-based drama by multi-award-winning composer Graham Reynolds (Where Do You Go, Bernadette/A Scanner Darkly). 'The Lodger' - based on Marie Belloc Lowndes' 1913 novel with a nod to the infamous Jack The Ripper case - set many hearts racing when visiting the East End of London and an unexpected fog descended. The drama was afoot, and the tension has been further escalated with a re-imagined score by multi award-winning composer, bandleader, and innovative improvisor, Graham Reynolds.This tale of murder and suspense set on the streets of terrorised London is eerily completed as Reynolds' sweeps from light to dark; it's playful in places, haunting, a tease - like Hitchcock at his best. Vinyl LP pressing. Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. Back in 2006, Richard Linklater's film adaptation of Philip K Dick's sci-fi novel A Scanner Darkly was greeted with suspicion. No one had done justice to the InchmasterInch (Bladerunner, Minority Report, Total Recall, The Adjustment Bureau had or have all met with mixed reviews). And, movies attempting to conjure up the effects of drugs were met with derision from the stoned cognoscenti. How could a story of dependence on Substance D (InchDeathInch for short) be created with multi-million dollar stars in the frame anyway? Linklater had a plan; He'd use rotoscoping (an effect that falls somewhere between Kiki Picasso's sketches brought to life and Disney on 'ludes). The celebrities would be shrouded in mystery, in fact Keanu Reeves' skin suit would make him almost invisible at times, a mumbling wreck swaying center stage. A waste of talent? A waste of money?
The years between Graham Lambkin's tenure with the legendary Shadow Ring and his more recent improvisational duos mark a distinct period of solitary creative production within the artist's singular career. Living with his family in Poughkeepsie, NY, from 2001 through 2011, Lambkin recorded and self-released four solo albums that valorized mundane domestic situations while reveling in the liminal spaces between the acts of listening, recording, and producing.
