Great Grandpa - Patience, Moonbeam - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Plastic Cough, the fantastic debut full length from Seattle WA's Great Grandpa, is bursting with grunge and pop sensibilities focused around the legendary indie rock sound that's dominated the Pacific Northwest music scene for the past three decades. Great Grandpa began writing their debut LP soon after, and found themselves touring the western US and performing extensively in the Seattle area. Written in 2015 and 2016, Great Grandpa's debut LP Plastic Cough continues to explore the sonic territory visited in Can Opener, exhibiting infectious melodies across a range of backdrops, from quiet bedroom-pop to explosive, anthemic rock. Patience, the third full-length from Philadelphia, PA indie punk band Mannequin Pussy, is an album fascinated with the physical experience of the body, it's songs tracking the movements of mouths and hands and racing hearts, skin and spit and teeth and blood. Deeply attuned to the power of their own physicality, members Colins Rey Regisford (bass, samples, vocals), Kaleen Reading (drums, percussion), Marisa Dabice (guitar, vocals), and Athanasios Paul (guitar, keys) channel complex emotion in blistering riffs, thrashing rhythms, vocals that feel as immediate and untamed as a gut reaction. Album Tracks 1. Patience 2. Drunk II 3. Cream 4. Fear/+/Desire 5. Drunk I 6. High Horse 7. Who You Are 8. Clams 9. F.U.C.A.W 10. In Love Again

Vinyl LP pressing. The title of Alberta Cross' 2012 studio album, Songs of Patience is, in many ways, literal. It's been three long years since the band last released a full-length album. The highs and lows of their journey raised a grander set of ideas, infusing the disc's title with additional universal meaning. After touring extensively on their debut, Broken Side of Time, with bands like Them Crooked Vultures, Oasis, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and stopping at festivals like Bonnaroo and Sasquatch, Alberta Cross headed to an old, abandoned house in the middle of nowhere near Woodstock, NY. There, they braved freezing winter and embraced a sense of the building's haunted past to envision ideas for a new record. In the end, the record is the sum of three year's worth of parts - a struggle that concluded in victory. Three different producers, Joe Chiccarelli, Mike Daly and Claudius Mittendorfer. It opens new possibilities for the band's visceral live show, a notable facet of the group defined by their raucous, gritty onstage performances that swell the tracks into bigger, more expansive versions of themselves. Album Tracks 1. Magnolia 2. Crate of Gold 3. Lay Down 4. Come on Maker 5. Ophelia on My Mind 6. Wasteland 7. I Believe in Everything 8. Life Without Warning 9. Money for the Weekend (Pocket Full of Shame) 10. Bonfires 11. Crate of Gold
