Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. On An Island is the third solo album by Pink Floyd member David Gilmour. It was released in the UK on March 6, 2006, Gilmour's 60th birthday. It was his first solo album in 22 years since About Face in 1984 and twelve years since Pink Floyd's 1994 album The Division Bell. The album features Robert Wyatt, Jools Holland, Georgie Fame, David Crosby, Graham Nash, late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, early Pink Floyd member Bob Klose and Pink Floyd session and touring musician Guy Pratt. Chris Thomas and Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera assisted with production. Much of the album was recorded in Gilmour's private studio aboard his houseboat Astoria. This wholly demented ensemble from Norman, OK dabbles in glam, slips in a little funk and soul, drinks the psychedelic Kool-Aid, blasts the synth cranks up their guitars and wraps it all up with a dose of pop smarts. Picking up where their 2006 debut SO GONE left off, Evangelicals leave behind much of their ADD-addled approach, instead of taking their wealth of great ideas and harnessing them for good. The hyperactive, overdriven pop is still here, but is balanced with restraint. It was recorded in the midst of litigation with their former manager Patrick Meehan and the stress that resulted from the band's ongoing legal woes infiltrated the recording process, inspiring the album's title. It was co-produced by guitarist Tony Iommi and Mike Butcher. Black Sabbath was formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist and main songwriter Tony Iommi, bassist and main lyricist Geezer Butler, singer Ozzy Osbourne, and drummer Bill Ward. Black Sabbath is often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. The band helped define the genre with a clutch of groundbreaking albums in the ‘70s. They have sold over 70 million records worldwide.
