Gretel - Squish - VINYL LP

After 10 years of Andy Shauf's The Party... it's time for the afterparty. The Party (10th Anniversary Edition) adds nine never-before-released tracks to the original studio version of this essential indie album of the last decade, including two brand new songs plus alternate cuts and demo recordings. With The Party, Shauf masterfully creates a cast of memorable and unique characters. They show up InchEarly to the Party,Inch reveal secrets (InchTo YouInch) or try to reveal nothing (InchThe MagicianInch). In Incha city the size of a dinner plate,Inch everyone knew the guy who keeled over after smoking what he promised would be his last pack of cigarettes (InchAlexander All AloneInch). There's the girl dancing by herself in the middle of the room, with the InchEyes of Them AllInch upon her. One moment you're dancing with someone who bears an uncanny resemblance to your ex (InchMartha SwaysInch) and later slagging your best friend as way of endearing yourself to his recently dumped ex (InchQuite Like YouInch). All of this is set to ornate arrangements of fuzzed-out guitars, string sections, clarinets and dreamy synths, all draped over delicate piano, acoustic guitars and rainy-day drums.

This album is a hallmark in the death-industrial scene-both for it's extreme thematic intensity and it's visceral sonic brutality. It's not for the faint of heart, but for those drawn to confrontational, thought-provoking sound art, it remains a dark classic.Released in 1993 on Artwork Production, Germany, The Grand Guignol is a dark, uncompromising work blending industrial, noise, dark ambient, experimental, and drone genres. The album delivers a relentless sonic assault with unsettling themes-serial killers, anthropophagy, existential dread-drawn from disturbing real-world sourcesTracks include titles like InchThe Cannibal,Inch InchBlack Dahlia,Inch InchHunting for Humans,Inch and InchCertificate of the Wound,Inch culminating in a chilling Epilogue. The sound is characterized by droning textures, distorted voices, samples of serial killer recordings, pre-death gasps, fragmented conversations, and deeply brooding atmospheresOne reviewer vividly described it as Inchan extreme noise and menacing ambientInch experience, Inchhard to listen to the whole of it without becoming depressed or mad.InchAnother recounted being initially repelled, then strangely captivated by it's dark audio landscapes-Inchall the vileness that can be found in the depths of human natureInch2xLP on opaque red vinyl.
