H. Walcha - Complete Chorale Preludes 4 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Helmut Walcha was one of the most influential organists of the 20th century. His Chorale Preludes stand as a testament to his enrichment of the Lutheran tradition, building on the inheritance of Baroque masters to create works of great expressive clarity and contrapuntal transparency, as well as introducing highly individual organ colors and sonorities. Volumes 1 and 2 of this four volume complete collection can be found on Naxos 8.572910 and 8.572911.

Apache first album on Birdman Records is Boomtown Gems, featuring members of the Cuts, Parchman Farm, Ghenghis Khan and others. Bay Area fave's Apache is a band of four dudes. The songs are Rock 'N' Roll club hits. One after the next, they hit you like a 'White Hammer'. Described as 'KISS meets the Ramones meets the New York Dolls'. with elements of 70's Pop, Glam Rock, and stadium drums, Apache's songs are like none before. The big guy sings falsetto, while the surfer bro behind the kit bangs out beats heavy enough to ride any wave. The guitar player is some sort of re-incarnation of Jimi Hendrix meeting Kurt Cobain in a dark club in NY. And the front man, leading the charge, is Apache.

English composer and pianist Michael Finnissy (b. 1946) has served as a professor at the Royal Academy of Music, the University of Sussex, and is currently Professor of composition at the University of Southampton and Composer in Residence at St. John's College Cambridge. His works for the piano are especially notable for their extreme technique demands. He is concerned with the political aspects of music, and believes that all music is programmatic to some degree. That is, a composition exists in not just the composer's mind, but inside a culture that reflects both the extra-musical and purely musical concerns of the composer.
