Haai - Put Your Head Above The Parakeets - VINYL LP

Following a string of increasingly electronica-minded releases, Billow Observatory returns to the haunted hunting grounds of their 2012 debut with a fully ambient, percussionless pearl. Embracing chance and randomness, spectral guitars rise, flitter, and crackle into dusty particulates as the concept of time is thrown out the window on each track. An increasingly hostile society no doubt contributes to the album's sense of introspection and the quest for InchothernessInch. Brooding, spooky, and beautiful, listeners are rewarded with a highly detailed collection of songs evoking visions of slowly spinning globes being knocked slightly off axis. CD

Vinyl LP pressing. 2022 . Nearly six years after As Was made it's mark, Black Anvil is returning with it's aptly titled fifth full-length, Regenesis. With a new record tag, a new album, and a newfound exploration of dark and black metal, Regenesis represents a new dawn for the New York City collective. Make no mistake, Regenesis is not a departure from Black Anvil's identity, but rather serves as the latest progression in the band's ever-evolving sound. The unrelenting and polished aggression hangs in the balance above dark melodic passages, presenting a dynamic soundscape that serves as the band's most devastating and existential offering to date. This isn't just black metal, this is NYBM.

Following the of two well-received EPs (Feel Good + Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik) on her own tag, Coconut Beats, Haai signed to Mute in 2019 and released Systems Up, Windows Down, followed by Put Your Head Above The Parakeets in 2020 and The Sun Made For A Soft Landing in 2021. Baby, We're Ascending marks Haai's debut full-length album and her most collaborative, energetic and vibrant collection to date. The album is a 13-track sonic adventure that takes you along for the ride; from hardcore, echoey beats to sweeping, colorful synth lines and bright, warped vocal samples. The voices on the album are vast and eclectic including Jon Hopkins and Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor to singer Obi Franky and spoken word poet and activist Kai Isaiah Jamal.
