About this product
Now over twenty years together as a working duo, Hammock continue their remarkable string of sonic explorations with The Second Coming Was A Moonrise. The title captures a time of exploration, when in his late teens, Byrd and a friend, under the influence of psychedelics, mistook the moonrise for the second coming of Christ. Byrd and Thompson, both primarily guitarists, have found their musical bonds becoming ever stronger as their shared work grows even more dramatic and richer over the years, pursuing a feeling of sweeping, shimmering sonic awe that can never simply be summed up as anything other than itself. The Second Coming Was A Moonrise continues those sensations of exploration, feeling at once like one of their most intimate releases while exploring the rich sense of majesty that they can create in turn. Much of The Second Coming is instrumental or only adds wordless vocal sighs and textures, though always with titles chosen with intent. Byrd revisited more of his drug-fueled escapes with InchChemicals Make You Small,Inch which features two notable guests Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips, adding vocals and keyboards. Other returning guest performers include regular collaborator Matt Kidd of Slow Meadow adding strings and guitar, Deserta's Matthew Doty on synths and guitar, Lumenette's Christine Byrd adding angelic vocals, Chad Howat playing keyboards and bass and Jake Finch adding some remarkable drumming.

Two CDs. Arising out of the ashes of Carter-Lewis And The Southerners (which featured a very young Jimmy Page on guitar) came The Ivy League. The third member of the trio was session singer Perry Ford. In 1965, 'Funny How Love Can Be' was a Top 10 hit, followed by another, 'Tossing And Turning'. Two smaller hit singles followed, but by 1966 the hits had stopped and John Carter and Ken Lewis left the band, though Perry Ford continued with it. Carter and Lewis wrote and sung 'Let's Go (To San Francisco)', the hit by The Flower Pot Men, whose road band contained future Deep Purple members Jon Lord and Nick Simper. This compilation rounds up all the material The Ivy League recorded for the Pye and Piccadilly record labels. Digitally remastered, slipcased and with new notes.

2016 . Hammock returns with Everything and Nothing, the Nashville duo's first full-length album since 2013's critically-acclaimed Oblivion Hymns. With Everything and Nothing, Hammock has entered oblivion - a place of personal struggle, doubt, and change - and come out the other side; hopeful. The experience is meticulously woven into each song, shared with listeners through intricate melodies, compelling beats and solemn vocals. In some ways, Everything and Nothing is the spiritual successor to the band's 2006 breakout album Raising Your Voice... Trying to Stop an Echo. It recalls the same mastery of sound and storytelling, destined to spark every listener's imagination. Mixed by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jónsi) and mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound.
