Handel Faramondo / Sparbo, Devin, Lowrey, Cummings, Gottingen Festival Orchestra, Date 10/14/2014, Composer George Frideric Handel, Performer Edward Grint, Maarten Engeltjes, Christopher Lowrey, Anna Devin, Conductor Laurence Cummings, Orchestra/Ensemble Gottingen Festival Orchestra, Venue Deutsches Theater Göttingen, Germany, Number of Discs 3. This is the last in the series of Handel's InchheroicInch operas. It ran for only eight performances after it's premier in January 1738 and has since been largely neglected before a relatively recent revival of interest, resulting in two studio recordings from 1996 and 2007; this is only the third recording available and is of a live radio broadcast from the Göttingen International Handel Festival.

Handel composed his oratorio La Resurrezione in 1707 with a libretto that provided a dramatic canvas for his new work lamentation on Christ's death contrasted with violent exchanges between the Angel and Lucifer. It inspired the young Handel to compose music of lavish richness and expressive drama. In this historically informed performance, conductor Attilio Cremonesi has done extensive research into the work's 1708 premiere in Rome.
