Hansel and Gretel - DVD

Based on the fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm. Hansel and Gretel are abandoned after the famine strike in the village and where Hansel and Gretel are later trapped in the deceptively decorated house of the witch Griselda who wishes to fatten Hansel so that he may be baked into a delicious gingerbread treat.

With her father gone and her mother slipping into dementia, country teenager Gretel (Sophia Lillis) knew she needed a safe home for herself and her younger brother Hansel (Samuel Leakey)... so she accepted lodging from the seemingly kindly crone Holda (Alice Krige). It develops that Holda is a witch in search of a protégé to pass her powers-but who's demanding an unholy price in return. Oz Perkins' unsettling take on the Brothers Grimm staple co-stars Jessica de Gouw, Charles Babalola. RUNTIME 87 minutes
