Harper Lee - He Holds a Flame - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This is My Letter to the World is an exploration of music for trumpet inspired by politics and social concepts. In her second album, Kate Amrine chooses to address pressing topics facing each of us including gun violence, abortion rights, discrimination, climate change, feminism, identity, immigration, and more. In the liner notes Kate writes, InchAs an activist and storyteller, I created this album of different stories and viewpoints that I am excited to share with the world. Many of these pieces bring up issues that are extremely important to everyone and I hope that upon listening, you will act and inspire others to do everything they can to make this world a better place.Inch The works are meant to start a conversation and inspire people to reflect. And yes, increase awareness of what is possible on the trumpet. While some of these pieces were written as early as 2018 with multiple performances completed, several were finalized very close to the recording session. However, with the subject matter, the pieces always feel fresh and timely - with another opportunity to connect performances to the incidents and moments we experience. In a review about Kate's first album As I Am, the International Trumpet Guild Journal writes InchAn accomplished performer, educator, composer, music contractor, and commissioner of new works, Kate Amrine is the epitome of the 21st century renaissance artist.Inch In addition to her work as a solo artist, Kate Amrine is an active freelancer and educator in New York City.

Debut from a London three piece featuring current and former members of Astronaut, the Love Parade, Eva Luna and Pure. Four well-crafted songs feature Graeme Elston's signature voice and swirling 12-string guitar combined with addictive choruses, keyboards, and rich production. A smashing addition to the Matinée roster, Slipslide present polished and melodic guitar pop that sits nicely beside treasured records from Aztec Camera, Go Betweens, Pale Fountains, or New Order....

Powerhouse vocalist Alanna Royale and her band bring some sides that burn like a piece of that famous Nashville hot chicken. A-side 'Go' will light up the output meters on many a DJ mixer, from the opening hits to the sinewy bass line snaking around a rhythm section that is bound to make a body move. B-sides are ever so often the hidden gems, and on this 45, 'I Know' is bound to have a big share in the fans of this . Foreshadowing the forthcoming groove, the Motown-esque entrance drum fill opens the door and then the horns step in and never leave the room. Produced by Kelly Finnigan and mixed by the team at Transistor Sound we are pleased to have this join a growing list of fine recordings from the Transistor Sound tag.
