About This Item

- The definitive 'Coco' sampler capturing the Seventies sound of New York Salsa- Featuring Grammy Award winner Eddie Palmieri and Lalo Rodriguez - Compiled in New York City.Harvey Averne is a legend in the music business. His track record runs from playing accordion in the post-war Catskills to working with Madonna in 1980s New York. But, it is as a producer of Latin music that his reputation rests. A man with an active mind he made Coco Records in his own image, focusing on not just one form of Latin music, but a fusion of salsa dura, via latin soul, disco, to latin pop. Like all the best latin labels he also made sure that there was room for the old greats as well as the emerging talent. The rewards were exceptional, 1975's Eddie Palmieri album 'The Sun Of Latin Music' won the first ever Grammy for Latin Music. This vinyl LP and extended CD represents the very best of Averne's extraordinary Seventies output at Coco prior to his audacious attempt to sign Madonna at the close of the decade. Includes the incendiary InchNunca ContigoInchfeaturing Lalo Rodriguez capturing the sound of New York salsa and winner of the 1975 Latin Grammy Award. Curated and annotated by Dean Rudland (Acid Jazz) in New York City. Album Tracks 1. Barrio Band - Heavy Duty 2. Toro - Small Folk Reservation 3. Cortijo - la Verdad 4. Eddie Palmieri - Nunca Contigo 5. Orquesta Cimarron - Cimarro 6. Ralfi Pagan - Girl from the Mountain (Disco Version - a Tom Moulton Mix) 7. David Bowie - Diamond Dogs - VINYL LP
    5.0(4)

Limited vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition. Diamond Dogs is the eighth studio album by rock icon David Bowie, released on 24 May 1974 on RCA Records. Thematically, it was a marriage of the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell and Bowie's own glam-tinged vision of a post-apocalyptic world. Bowie had wanted to make a theatrical production of Orwell's book and began writing material after completing sessions for his 1973 album Pin Ups, but the author's estate denied the rights. The songs wound up on the second half of Diamond Dogs instead where, as the titles indicated, the Nineteen Eighty-Four theme was prominent. Album Tracks 1. Future Legend (2016 Remastered Version) 2. Diamond Dogs (2016 Remastered Version) 3. Sweet Thing (2016 Remastered Version) 4. Candidate (2016 Remastered Version) 5. Sweet Thing (Reprise) [2016 Remastered Version] 6. Rebel Rebel (2016 Remastered Version) 1. Rock 'N' Roll with Me (2016 Remastered Version) 2. We Are the Dead (2016 Remastered Version) 3. 1984 (2016 Remastered Version) 4. Big Brother (2016 Remastered Version) 5. Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family (2016 Remastered Version)
