The show's many highlights included laid-back live performances recorded in the round before a small audience and featuring a powerful ensemble - including guitarist Scotty Moore and drummer D.J. Fontana, both part of Elvis' original, classic backing band. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Elvis, both electrifying, intimate Inchsit-downInch sets are released widely on vinyl for the first time. Elvis aired on NBC on December 3, 1968. It marked Presley's return to live performance after seven years during which his career was centered in the movie business. The show consisted of a sit-down section, stand-up numbers and two musicals. The sit-down session showcased Presley in an informal setting, surrounded by fans and small band. Originally begun in 2009 by Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp for King Crimson's 40th anniversary, a series of new mixes were prepared in both stereo & 5. 1 formats & issued as CD/DVD-a sets. The CD/DVD-A series also provided the catalyst for the larger scale King Crimson boxed sets as issued from 2012 onwards. The impact of both the CD/DVD-A series & the boxed sets helped to kick start a wider interest in the mainstream market for surround sound & for all-encompassing artist boxed sets which had, previously, been limited mostly to 'direct to fan' and/or specialist online sales & retailers.
