Haystack - Right At You - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

HEAVY TEMPLE are back from extensively touring across the United States and for the first time also Europe. They are also back from the rehearsal room where the making of new songs became far more of a group effort than on the debut album. And finally back from Animal Farm studio where John Forrestal gave the new album InchGarden of HeathensInch a rich and warm organic sound that is also crisp and crystalline. Where the debut full-length InchLupi AmorisInch charged forward like a roaring mastodon, InchGarden of HeathensInch comes across more diverse and sophisticated without losing punch or heaviness. And while the powerful vocals of frontwoman High Priestess Nighthawk provide a strong gravitational pull, HEAVY TEMPLE always remain a riff-first kind of band. Even so, the heavy-touring Philadelphia, PA trio have expanded their range to encompass an even wider breadth of rock and metal road stops, from BARONESS to THE BEATLES and BLACK SABBATH to FU MANCHU - with many crossroads in between.

An internationally renowned oboist, Victor Aviat was a soloist with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Orchestra Mozart under Claudio Abbado, and Ivan Fischer's Budapest Festival Orchestra for 20 years. He also studied piano, composition, and conducting. His first work as a composer was performed by the Orchestre National de France under the baton of Emmanuel Krivine (his stepfather) in 2019. Victor Aviat died on 1 May 2025 in Berlin following a sudden illness. This double album pays tribute to this multi-talented artist. Victor was also a painter and author of poems, which he set to music and performed himself. This portrait presents a double programme, with pieces for oboe and piano by Robert Schumann (recorded in 2024 with pianist Kim Barbier) and his 17 songs... The booklet accompanying this double album includes an illustration for each song as well as some of his paintings and a text he wrote 'to young musicians'. Like his self-portrait, with his face half submerged in darkness, Victor Aviat's songs offer us glimpses of his inner life and feelings through allusions and clues. To keep alive the memory of Victor Aviat, both as an artist and as a man.

Doomsday Goes Away isn't merely an album; it stands out as a testament to Haystack's unwavering significance in the power-rock-noise-landscape. It's ten fearless tracks echo a mantra of raw authenticity InchNo Bullshit, No Trends, Just Honesty, In Your Face, Anarchy, and Hope.Inch Conceived in a fervent four-day recording sprint, the album showcases the band's raw spontaneity. Stripped down to it's core, recorded live with minimal overdubs, there's no hiding behind dense production this time. It's unfiltered, pure Haystack. It is what It is!
