Healing Potpourri - Blanket of Calm - VINYL LP

Healing Potpourri want to create songs that make you feel good. It's not often that we take a moment to appreciate music that specifically exists to comfort and rejuvenate - music that aims to sound as pleasant as it's intentions - but that's exactly what Healing Potpourri achieves on the new full-length, Blanket of Calm. The album is a collection of 11 effervescent songs to soundtrack better days-and hopefully inspire more of them. While not every moment of Blanket of Calm is perfectly sunny, they are all very human. Songs like InchThink About UsInch and InchDustin's Rain TapeInch touch on interpersonal relationships and longing; the latter an ode to a childhood friend, while the former explores the sometimes fleeting nature of connecting with another person. The album's closing song, InchGlittery Sidewalks,Inch pulls many of these lyrical themes together along with returning musical cues. It's a fitting way to end Blanket of Calm, an album that reminds us that sometimes a musical salve is exactly what we needed. Album Tracks 1. Dream Vacay 2. Blanket of Calm 3. Think About Us 4. Moment Alone 5. Laney 6. Dustin's Rain Tape 7. Camellia 8. Pieces 9. The Page 10. La Vida Tranquila 11. Glittery Sidewalks

Led by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Simi Sohota, Healing Potpourri specialize in effervescent guitar pop that incorporates elements of '70s soft rock, chamber pop, lounge, and more, to create songs that are all but guaranteed to leave the listener in a better mood. But on the San Francisco-based band's sophomore LP, Paradise, the group offers more than just sonic escapism. Written and recorded over the past two tumultuous years, Paradise finds Sohota and company processing the often overwhelming deluge of stress, frustration, and despair that's become a part of modern life-but rather than be completely deflated, the band have created some of their most vibrant and instantly appealing music to date. The result is eleven hopeful songs that seek to imagine a better world and strive to make it a reality, while still taking the time to appreciate the moments of brightness that can shine through in hard times. Album Tracks 1. Truly Good 2. Wind 3. Free 4. What Do I Do Now? 5. Sticky 6. Paradise 7. Terry 8. Last Place 9. Fireworks 10. Here 11. Something New

J MASCIS rounds up a couple partners-in-crime from his adolescence with an eye - and ear - towards shredding harder, wailing louder, and generally melting faces even more brutally than ever before. Stoner dirt-bags cloaked in mystery, j's longtime buddies Pete Cougar and Johnny Pancake lay down the heavy rhythm base for J's massive licks and blistering guitar mastery. Ever wondered what 'Band of Gypsies' would sound like if you mixed it up with Japanese hard psych and smoked it through a giant power bong? Well, now you know. Don't say we didn't warn you.
