Soil In The Sky, the highly anticipated new album from Heather Maloney, out June 14, 2019, on Signature Sounds. The album features an amazing cast of musicians including Rachel Price from Lake Street Dive, Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith from Dawes and Jaron Olevsky and Ryan Hommel from Amos Lee's band and features Maloney's most melodic and striking songs yet.

Going in, we said 'let's make a bad ass indie rock record with a sound as big and dynamic as we can, without compromising one single heartfelt lyric. Singer-songwriter Heather Maloney did just that on her newest LP, Making Me Break. Working with Grammy nominated producer Bill Reynolds (Band of Horses, Avett Brothers), the two crafted and delivered on an artistic vision to merge Maloney's folk roots with indie rock. Maloney's new music has a definite edge, but it also has a classically trained voice that delivers well-crafted lyrics over a technical arrangement-a combination we've recently seen getting mainstream appreciation once more. Suddenly, the term Inchsinger/songwriterInch carries serious weight again. Chalk it up to a revival of everything 90s and Maloney's influence from Inchthose bleeding hearts,Inch as she calls them, referring to artists' like Fiona Apple, Tori Amos and Aimee Mann. Throughout the new musical heights and depths on this record, Maloney's voice and lyrics remain center stage, truthfully articulating the insights and emotions of growing up, without clichés nor quirks for their own sake. Completed during World War II, Honegger's Symphony No. 2 gives voice to the composer's horror of mankind's barbarity and inhumanity perpetrated during the conflict. It's power derives from the seamlessness of it's construction and the intensity of it's expression. The work's dark, brooding mood comes to a profoundly moving climax in the finale's elegiac chorale tune, played on first violins accompanied by trumpet, thus ending the symphony on a more optimistic note than might be expected. Henri Lazarof's Concerto for Orchestra No. 2, 'Icarus' is a volatile, richly coloured score, and Poema, composed as a wedding gift for Gerard Schwarz and his wife, is both romantic and brilliant.
