Hedrick / Bennett / Lauber / Rossini / Krumpholtz - Musical Colors - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The highly innovative conductor Sergey Smbatyan leads the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra on their new album CONTEMPORARY COLOURS. Featuring music exclusively by Maltese composers, the album combines full orchestration with pre-recorded elements, traditional instrumentation, and contemporary sounds to bring the pieces to life. The project aims to highlight Maltese music, bringing together the sounds of Euchar Gravina, Mariella Cassar-Cordina, Christopher Muscat, Veronique Vella, Alexander Vella Gregory, and Albert Garzia, all active innovators in their field. Enjoy this selection of new contemporary classics as performed by Malta's only professional orchestra.

This new from the Habemus Quartet is a showcase of world premiere recordings. The selections were awarded in the Second Edition of Cum Laude Music Awards International Chamber Music Composition Contest, and come from modern composers including Elena Kats-Chernin, Jesse Voogt, Gordon Kennedy, and more. The Habemus Quartet (Erica Ramallo, Vicente Cueva, Marian Herrero, and Simon Veis), was born with the mission of spreading contemporary chamber music that balances composer, interpreter, and audience. It is the only quartet in Spain dedicated to the performance of contemporary chamber music. They debuted in November 2012 at the Centro-Centro Auditorium of the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid.
