Hisense - 85" Class U6 MiniLED QLED UHD 4K HDR Glare-Free Smart Fire TV with Alexa+ (2026)

Hisense is a brand that two years ago I wouldn’t have considered but after getting my first Hisense tv last year, it’s now one of my favorite tv brands! This is now my third Hisense tv and forth if you consider my family members that got one because of me. With Hisense you get a lot of features and specs that with other brands you’ll pay much more for. With this model, the one nice thing is, if you’re not mounting the tv the feet have two different positions that allow it to be put on a smaller piece of furniture. Spec wise for the price you get a lot, two HDMI 2.1 and two HDMI 2.0 with one being eARC, one USB-A and digital optical. If you’re a gamer the 144hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync makes for a smooth and lag free experience when playing fast motion games. It also has AI that further helps with delivering a smooth experience when gaming. Hisense delivers a Total HDR experience with four different formats (HDR10+,DOLBY VISION IQ,HDR AND HLG) that deliver bright and vibrant colors and a beautiful picture. With Dolby Atmos you’ll get a more cinematic experience than other tvs with just standard speakers. Along with it being an Amazon smart tv you also have Apple AirPlay 2 & Apple home compatibility built in. If you’re in the market for a new tv and haven’t considered Hisense, you’re missing out. You get so much value for the money and you don’t have to comprise on specs plus you get a two warranty to boot!

I love how easy this TV is to setup and use. The AI adaptive picture settings mean it is always adjusting to the light in the room and the content so you don't have to worry about it. Alexa and the Fire TV system make it easy to find what you need and provide access to a large selection of apps. This TV is in our game room, so it is important that it easily switches between different content. I have enjoyed watching baseball and the World Cup on it. My daughters have had the Nintendo Switch 2 and gaming laptop hooked up for games. We have also did family movie night and just spent time browsing while crashing on the couch. Everyone loves the picture, clarity, and (of course) the size. I am sure someone might comment that another TV does this better or has some better spec, but I am loving how this one delivers and makes the content... not the TV... the important part of the experience. Pros 1. Clear/sharp 4k screen, no motion blur, good blacks, bright vibrant colors. 2. Good sound. This TV has great built-in speakers that are loud, don't distort, and even have a little bass for actions movies (hard hits and explosions). 3. No issues with glare or sunlight. Our game room has 2 large windows and can be pretty bright in the middle of the day (even with the blinds closed). We have not had any issues with glare and the TV is bright enough that it does not look dim or washed out during the day. 4. Fire TV and Alexa - Love viewing my Ring cameras, using Alexa to search for things to watch, lots of apps - works well with my main streaming service (YouTube TV). 5. Wi-Fi works great. No lag or issues connecting to my mesh network. 6. AI Adaptive picture settings, 4k, HDR, and adaptive sync are great combo for keeping up with fast paced video games, seeing every detail of the World Cup, or being immersed in a movie on the big screen. Playing Mario Kart World multi-player on this TV is way more fun than our old TV (each person has their own 40" section). Sonic X Generations with its fast pace and bright colors was fantastic and engaging. I felt like I have a better view of the World Cup and baseball games than I would have if I was there... leaning in to make sure the umpire got the call right. We watched Superman together the other night and turned the sound way up... the visual effects really stood out... we were there. The TV switched modes for each of these activities, with no input, so we could right to enjoying our time. Things to Consider 1. There are plenty of ports: 4xHDMI (w/eARC support on HDMI1 for compatible sound bars), LAN, Digital Audio Out, Cable/Antenna, 2xUSB. The one sad exception is there is no AV input (so I will need an adapter for my old Nintendo Wii... yes we still play it). 2. Make sure you do a pre-read on the instructions... due to the size, you might need to upgrade your stand or mount. You need either a deep TV stand (the feet are 17" deep) or a 600x400mm mount that supports M6 screws. The TV weighs around 70lbs (not bad), but combined with the size it is to much for one person to lift/install.

Picture quality Picture quality is awesome, brights are bright and contrast is great. 4K HD Youtube demos look incredible and 4K Avatar was amazing. I didn’t notice any light loss at different viewing angles. HDR is incredible. First thing I did was get it mounted. It was a fairly simple process and the three of us were able to get it installed. Power is opposite the input cables for a minor annoyance for a clean install. So one would need an extra long power cable to get it all in one cable raceway. Fire TV software This tv replaces an almost equally large tv by a major south korean brand from just three years ago. The difference in responsiveness in switching, downloading apps was instantly noticeable. My old tv struggled for some unknown reason. Everything is just plain simple to understand. The TV remote has 4 quick buttons for Netflix, Disney. Amazon, YouTube. The one thing I use a lot is changing Picture modes. I wish there was a button on the remote for this. 90% of the time we use Filmmaker mode but Sports mode is definitely worth using. Sound Sound was decent, but no one’s going to use a tv like this with the internal speakers. I plugged in my soundbar to the ARC HDMI port and it was working instantly. Conclusion I guess the one thing I was expecting was brand shock. People pay $$$ for name brands and I thought maybe Hisense wouldn’t live up to my expectations. It was 100% the other way around. It’s waaaay better than my original TV. This TV far exceeded my expectations.

I’ve purchased a lot of televisions over the years, and I have never seen anything so well-protected. **But,** the wooden crate adds significant weight. My advice? Don't try to move this alone. Scramble to get help ahead of time, and honestly, you should probably have four people ready to bring it inside and help you get it set up. It is a heavy, awkward load. #### **Performance (After 5+ Days)** Once I got it inside and mounted, the picture really shines. The setup was fast, and the interface is snappy. **Pro Tip:** Don't just plug it in and walk away. Out of the box, the "AI" picture settings made movies look a bit like a soap opera. I spent about 15 minutes in the settings menu turning the "motion smoothing" features down, and that made the picture look much more natural and film-like. Once I did that, the screen looked incredible—deep blacks, bright colors, and great contrast. #### **Pros and Cons** **The Pros** * **Ultimate Protection:** The custom wooden crate is the best shipping protection I’ve ever seen for a television. * **Incredible Picture:** Once calibrated, the high-end display technology delivers a bright, sharp, and cinematic experience. * **Gaming Performance:** The high refresh rate (144Hz) is the real deal—movement in games is incredibly fluid and responsive. **The Cons** * **Weight & Logistics:** Between the massive size and that heavy wooden crate, this is a heavy-duty job. You need a team of 4 people to move it safely. * **Interface Clutter:** The smart interface is fast, but it’s loaded with suggestions and ads that can clutter the screen. #### **The Verdict** After five days of using this for movies and gaming, I think this television is a fantastic deal. While the built-in speakers are just "okay," that’s easily forgiven. You are getting so much more value and performance for the price than what you are actually paying for. It’s a huge, high-performance display that makes you feel like you’re in a theater. Just make sure you track your delivery closely, have a crew of people ready to move that heavy wooden crate, and plan on adding a soundbar to your setup. Once you get past the initial delivery headache, you’re going to love the screen. **Rating: 5/5 Stars**
