About this product
Upon examining the eventful life of Can bassist Holger Czukay, one might come to the conclusion that this intrepid musician was a loner. His turbulent career exuded an enduring eccentricity governed by a boundless free spirit. Yet Czukay, who passed away unexpectedly in 2017 at the age of 79, constantly emphasized that his creativity was always contingent upon a musical partner, whether that was a skin-and-bones counterpart or an anonymous manifestation that interacted with him through radio waves or, as happened later, the internet. Nonetheless, most of his partners were of flesh and blood. His post-Can career comprised a string of solo albums as well as collaborations on albums, singles and remixes. In 1979 he released his imaginative and technically impressive second solo effort, Movies which features contributions from Can cohorts Irmin Schmidt, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit plus former Can collaborator Rebop Kwaku Baah. Album Tracks 1. Cool in the Pool 2. Oh Lord Give Us More Money 3. Persian Love 4. Hollywood Symphony

Recorded at Denver, Colorado's Mighty Fine Productions with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem, Old Crow Medicine Show) and GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Ryan Mall, Hotel Last Resort resides among Violent Femmes' finest work, simultaneously refining and redefining their one-of-a-kind take on American music, mingling front porch folk, post-punk, spiritual jazz, country blues, avant garde improvisation, and golden age rock 'n' roll. Founded and fronted of course by Gano and Ritchie, the group remains as warm, wise and weird as ever before, with such new favorites as 'Another Chorus' and 'Everlasting You' continuing to mine the vast range of ideas, melodic complexity, and organic sonic craftsmanship that has characterized the band's body of work since their landmark 1983 debut.
