2017 . While Canadian sextet Shooting Guns is known (and oft-nominated) for their film soundtrack work (like Netflix hit WolfCop), Flavour Country is the band's fastest, heaviest and most visceral material-a collection of anthems to jettison from this universe into the multiverse. The album features some of the band's most atmospheric sounds there are slight hints of Ennio Morricone's Spaghetti Western twang amidst the looping Meddle-era Pink Floyd heavy psych and driving drone reminiscent of Bobby Beausoleil's belladonna laced soundtrack to Kenneth Anger's Lucifer Rising. But for the most part, the band is out for blood, regardless of tempo. Album opener InchRide FreeInch kicks off with a blistering wall of guitars, blaring and rattling out of the gate like mutant progeny to fellow Canadian biker-rock heroes Steppenwolf duly firing all of the guns, exploding into space and returning to hunt down every last one of us. It accelerates from there InchFrench SafeInch sounds like an unhinged battalion of musicians driving full throttle like a scene from a George Miller Road Warrior movie. Biting, lengthier tracks like InchSimian ShelfInch and the title track occupy the heavy end of the psychedelic spectrum, haunting the foggy moor between early, bluesy Sabbath-styled doom riffery and heavy pulse-riding kraut-rock.

Hall Aflame, the rock band which features Metal Church founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, will their long-awaited sophomore album InchAmplifireInch on May 3, 2024. Originally formed in 1989, the band garnered commercial success with their debut album InchGuaranteed ForeverInch, which was well received by fans and industry peers alike and quickly found themselves opening for ZZ Top on their 1991 InchRecyclerInch tour for a number of dates. As with many bands from that era, facing a decline in interest for AOR rock due to the onslaught of the InchgrungeInch scene, the band went on a lengthy hiatus and reunited again in late 2023 to begin working on a handful of songs. Amplifier offers 12 new studio tracks and reunites Kurdt with original bassist Brian Smith, along with drummer Bill Raymond and front-man Scott Nutter. Regarding the album, Kurdt Vanderhoof comments, InchThis album came about as a project to document all the songs that we had written for the second album that never came to be. We revisited the songs and realized they had to be recorded properly. Then it blossomed into something much better than we had even hoped! So that led us into reforming the band instead of just having it be a project.Inch Bassist Brian Smith adds, InchI think anyone that is a fan of InchGuaranteed ForeverInch will see this record as a new and improved InchPart IIInch of Hall Aflame. Great songs, great production and we had a ton of fun putting this together!InchFrom the driving album opener InchHelltownInch, to the powerhouse outro track InchKeeping Them All AwayInch, Hall Aflame shines with their signature brand of rock-n-roll. Tracks like InchRipcordInch, InchIn The Same GutterInch, InchIt Ain't EnoughInch and InchGunnin'Inch are filled with memorable hooks and melodies, while songs like InchPullin Me ApartInch and Inch1974Inch showcase their unique, classic rock songwriting ab
