A: The "Features" tab on the HW website has the answer: 70 Pint (50 Pint 2019 DOE Standard) Energy Star Qualified Dehumidifier for 4,000 sq. ft. - a lot of manufacturers still use the old 2012 DOE standard, which is 70-pint. The new 2019 standard only rates it at 50-pint. 50 is the new 70!
Q: Will Best Buy recycle my old dehumidifier?
A: Nope. You have to pay a company to take it off your hands. I have 5 dehumidifiers that no longer work. They last for only 2 years. Kills me, shouldn't we demand that they make these things last for 10 years like they once did? Then we wont have to add these pieces of junk to our landfills.

Q: Does the Honeywell - Energy Star 50-PInt Dehumidifier emit a lot of heat? Is it quiet?
A: This dehumidifier is very quiet for a dehumidifier. We have it running in our basement next to the bottom of the stairway, and you can barely hear it running from the top of the basement stairs. Granted, it does still make some noise, but it's a fairly low hum. I'd say maybe on a par with a fan on low speed. So unless you're a person who is sensitive to any noise, this should be quite acceptable. Regarding the heat, my unit has been running almost nonstop since the last major storm we had that flooded our basement (about a month ago), and it is cool to the touch on all sides. It blows air out the vent at the top, and that feels lukewarm at best, or just barely cool. Hope this helps!
A: Hello, thank you for your inquiry. There is a 5% threshold when the desired humidity setting has been reached. The compressor will shut off once the relative humidity is 5% lower than your desired setting. The fan will continue to run for up to 3 minutes to cool the motor and will then shut off. Operation restores once the relative humidity is 5% higher than your desired setting. The Water Tank Capacity is 14 pints.

I think it is more like a 50 pint, but still nice because it works great and is not too heavy for me to lift and also it is much easier to open and close the drawer where the water goes in.
