A: There is a rectangular "switch" on the top of the vacuum base on the left side when you are using the vacuum. Make sure this is in the up position, when down it stops the brush from rotating. You have to give it a good push to engage it.
Q: Do you need a drill to put this vacuum together? Are any tools needed to assemble this vacuum?
A: There's only 1 screw to be tightened.
Q: Is this one good with pet hair ?
A: Yes! I have a cat and she sheds all the time! This works wonders!
A: This model works better on carpets, than on bare floors or tiles. On the floors & tiles it will leave behind some dust, dirt or sand.
Q: Is this vacuum self propelled?
A: No, the vacuum is not self propelled.

Q: Does this Upright Vacuum have a washable filter
A: Hi jes1058! Yes, one of the two filters on this unit is washable. The filter in the lid of the dirt cup is the washable one. The HEPA filter, located on the front of the motor, is not washable. Hope this helps! -Michael, Hoover Customer Care
