Great chick flick! You know, a jerk guy humiliates you and you and your kid turn around and live your best lives without him.

Hope Floats and Sandra Bullock shines in what might have been a maudlin three hankie rom-com. Humiliated on national TV (by Ricki Lake, no less) a former prom queen/cheerleader retreats to her Texas hometown to salve her wounds. Her stalwart, eccentric mother (the always terrific Gena Rowlands of The Notebook & John Cassevetes muse) allows her a suitable time before forcing her to confront the fact that her former seemingly ideal life is over. But moreover she finds out that not only have the townfolk & her former friends all seen the Lake debacle--would she care for a copy?--but they harbor resentment for her high school popularity which she flaunted. Add to the mix she lacks any job skills & has a daughter (a young Mae Whitman--Parenthood) who blames her for the divorce & her daddy abandoning her. While all this may seem soapy this is Sandra Bullock--the only the watchable reason even in the 1/2 star All About Steve. Soon she tosses the tissues, hitches up her denims, finds her inbred Texas resolve & begins to reinvent herself. With the Bullock smile, charm & her physical comedy ability as assets she charges ahead. Mother Gena dabbles as matchmaker--which introduces Harry Connick,Jr. to the proceedings. Connick displays an easy, natural charm, though his character seems to portend his American Idol attitude. Though resistant to his overtures at first, she welcomes a much needed friend. Despite several more emotional bumps she find that Hope Floats.

Directed by Forrest Whitaker. Sandra gets embarrassed on national tv, heads back home, doesn't get along with her mom. Big high school girl heads back to small town USA, and gets a taste of her own medicine. Reluctantly she goes out on a date with Harry Connick Jr. Finds love and realizes there's no place like home.

This is not my favorite Sandra B movie but it's right up there. Harry Connick Jr. plays a good role on it too. It's definitely a chick flick but a good one. It's hard to not like a movie she is in.

I am a Sandra Bullock fan. I got the Blu-ray version of this movie. There wasn't much additional info, but I don't mine so much. Love movies are one of my favorite types of movies. As for me I had to add this movie to my collection.

This movie was about a single mother struggling to overcome hardship. She has a difficult relationship with her daughter, her own mother and her cheating husband. I thought the movie moved along well. It was sad at times. Harry Connick becomes the love interest to the reluctant Bullock. The two have decent chemistry. The plot does not have a lot of depth but the movie is "entertaining" if you are entertained by watching characters overcome personal struggle.

This was purchased for my sister. She loves Sandra Bullock. It was a good movie. Felt sorry for her. What a way to be told she was not loved anymore.

It's nice to see the older catalog titles being released on Blu-Ray. Video and audio are very good. Well worth the price.

Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr have great on-screen chemistry, and the kids in the movie are perfectly cast. Keep a Kleenex handy, and enjoy laughter, tears, and a happy ending.

I prefer Action, Thrillers, Horror movies BUT once in awhile I will find myself liking movies like this one. I love it, one day I will live in a little town as such.

This movie is hard to find. I had to wait a month because it was on backorder. Totally worth the wait and thankful I can add it to my collection.
